After dragging you can change the frame showed with the slider in knobman. Then switch to the program/graphic where you want to check the look of the (dragged) knob.

What kind of knob is that where you want to show 100 different pics/shapes in 100 different frames? Maybe this can be done easier in different way?!

oh shit! dumbass me... did not understand that and it works perfectly, THANK YOU! :)

as to the 100 diff pictures in 100 diff frames, well just an extreme example of why I'd like that control by frame numbers...

I have used a combo of the png output from knobman, taken back into PS to add things like back ground colors and shapes at certain frames just because it's often easier than trying to set it up in knobman....

Plz don't EVER get me wrong.... I freakin' LOVE knobman and I am so thankful and grateful that it exists I can't even find words to truly express my feelings

may i add one little wish??

could you (perhaps) add the possibility to add multiple images from files?
(e.g. i have a 3d rendered thing rotating in 3d space) and this consist of 36 png images (360 degrees rotation).

now i would love to add a image layer and let Knobman use every PNG file for every frame! does that make sense?

(so that basically i can create a stitched (image strip) from multiple PNG files). this would make my live so much easier :) willing to donate by the way :D

thanks! keep up the amazing work!!

This can be done manually already, so I asume you want to have this automated.
The manual way is: add a layer, set to "image", load image1. Add a layer, set to "image", load image2 and so on. And then we are at the %-thing again :D Use the frame mask for each layer (like 0%>10%, 10%>20%...90%>100% for a total of 10 layers, and set the preferences to 10 frames).
This is only practical for small amounts of pictures, of course.

Guys, I have a little question for you!
If I want to some Moog style knobs, but the scales around it are a bit messy for me to draw.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3521/388 ... b0f46e.jpg

I tried copying one line and rotating it with the proper fraction of Angle and I could come up with a promising spiky ball. But when I'd start outlining and lengthening every 5th unit, it turned to be a hell of a job. Is there any easier way to do these scales, or I have to sit through it? Please answer!
I'm using Adobe Illustrator

Cheers, David!

EDIT: Also, can I set the software to not move the new stuff when I paste something from the clipboard?

The primitive "Radiateline" is for this.
Best is you go back in this thread and download some of the examples to look at.

Thanks for your efforts, WOK, but I found a solution.

Just had to strip off a Polar Grid... Baaaah, too simple for me :D

KnobMan 1.45 is released :)

http://www.g200kg.com/en/software/knobman.html

* 2nd Mask effect is added with AND/OR operation.
* Multiple image files import to single Image primitive as individual frame.
* Individual files export : Filename's numbering suffix is automated and 'Suffix Form' and 'Count From' parameters are deleted.
* Improved file extension check on SaveProject & ExportImage for avoiding unexpected overwrite.
* Value handling rule : yellow background parameters means not yet rendered. By this, Preference-'Set' button is deleted

Quite awesome update! Double masking! And now we can see the actual start and stop frame numbers of the frame mask, really useful :)

If I may add some further suggestions:

1. Make ALL dropdown boxes mouse-scrollable without clicking them first - so we can simply change their value by hovering the mouse pointer over the dropdown and scrolling the mousewheel

2. Add all text strings from other KnobMan dialogs to the Language file (Option window along with window title, Animation Curve windows along with their titles, Edit Shape window, Open/Save/Save As windows if possible, etc.) -> allows full translation of KnobMan

3. Slight text misplacement influences the interface look when Layout tab is closed. You might want to move the "Step:" line to the left of the value input box to fix it ;)

Image

4. Decrease the range of the vertical scrollbar that scrolls through Layout/Colors/Masking/Lighting tabs. It goes way too far when all tabs are opened (practically doesn't show any of the tabs). It should also be completely hidden when there's nothing to scroll (same goes for the preview window scrollbar).

Example GIF here (0.9 MB)

5. Double-click in the layer list area could append a new layer at the end of the layer list.

6. Mousescrolling in the layer list area could scroll through the layers (optionally).

7. More points for animation curves. 32 points would be cool :) Freehand drawing? Also more animation curves, perhaps 8?

8. Freely naming animation curves, and using those names in menus? Save/load animation curves from files?

9. Instead of using a slider to test the knob, why not allowing a real knob drag via modifier? Or perhaps just normally drag the knob as we would in VST, and current feature of duplicating the test frame might be a modifier (Ctrl+drag out? Right-click drag out?) This would be really neat ;)

I might have some others coming in later :)

Anyways, thanks for your awesome program, and updates!

Please NOT - or optional in preferences only - it will lead to unwanted value changes too often.

Optional, I agree. I am very used to this behavior of dropdown boxes in Reaper. It's really intuitive and I like it, I find it very useful, and faster to work with.

Slight bumpage ;)

Hi g200kg,
I have a question about the future possibility of having an additional parameter to adjust the lights.
A parameter that can set the global offset of light,
because if the primitives are not placed perfectly in the middle
you have difficulty managing the light,
for example if I move the offset of a primitive aligned to the left and up, then to have the possibility of creating a shadow that enters the frame,
without having to resort to the function of scale,
then to have so much unused space with the resulting file size too.
Just an idea.

Is it possible to take two images of a knob at minimum and maximum values and have KnobMan rotate from min to max to create a multi-image file?

edit: sorry, very very simple answer (use Rotate (to) Angle). :)

Post

I have been spending a great deal of time in knobman 1.45 lately and notice problems with it's video drawing quite often.

I think it maybe related to knobman doing some kind of background processing that we don't get informed about with an hour glass cursor.

What I too often find happening is that IF I have a dragged an image of a knob out onto the screen to test for look over a jpeg of a vst... and then I do someting else in knobman, like make a new layer, or save as, ...almost anything really... then I get weird screen drawing... Like a whole false rectangle showing the preview image.. I say 'false' because if I drag any other window over it, it will wipe it away... [maybe ghost is a better word than false?]

This version 1.45 also seems to get stuck more than pervious version.. stuck means like if you want to change a layer from a circle primative to a filled circle, the drop down menu will not let me see the drop downs...

I love knobman and GREATLY thank you for it, and I hope it keeps getting better!
