lets talk about cpu for a moment.
i have a rycen 9 3900x processor and when i hammer plasmonic i get to around 50 percent cpu with one instance of plasmonic which seems a bit high to me.
the desktop is very new and i hace to look for cpu settings. maybe there is room for improvement.
how much do you guys get on which cpus?

Interesting. So far I made no real stress test. What preset, how many voices and which buffer and sample rate?gunnar wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 2:56 pm lets talk about cpu for a moment.

pretty much any preset. 14 voices and hammering away as much as you can with 14 voices and buffer around 512 having 10 ms time..

F.e. I just tested the default preset Bounce with a lot fast played voices, 4 instances and buffer 32. Plays fine on my little laptop
(MacBook Pro M1)
Sometimes I get rare crackle but 3 instances seems smooth all the way with 16 voices and buffer 32 sample rate 44.1Khz.
With a buffer 512 I just tested 8 instances and all worked fine triggered all together.

Now I tried that with buffer 512 and the preset Avanaddh. I stoped at 20+ instances but guess it can do more.
So for me CPU usage is really great for what it does and that is actually running in unoptimzed mode (means under Rosetta 2).
If you want a real stress test load one of these midi files and see where it goes:

thank you for your input!!!
i tried 16 notes in bounce with 384 samples. 10ms is my real world latency which is perfect for me.
the cpu meter in cubase goes up very fast but its not overloading with that red led....
it played 22 instances of plasmonic without crackles and overload which is funtastic for me. last weekend i was still on an old i7 which wouldnt been able to handle 10 voices alone...
thanks again.
i will need to learn to ignore the cpu meter. maybe i turn it of

I never look at this (turned it off anyway) and also not look at RAM usage since software these days is sometimes strange and I never trust a cpu meter or even the activity monitor.gunnar wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 4:11 pm thank you for your input!!!

Its simple as I play until I hear some crackles, dropouts. If all is smooth I do not care.
Sometimes its shows cpu 30-40% but does not change if I add more, also if I have more RAM, the system seems to use more but more important is the RAM pressure.
Whatever, I think Plasmonic does well for the great sound engine it has and I am happy with how much I can run even on a little laptop.
Of course I hope it will get a native apple silicon version as well in the future....at least before Apple decide to just let native software run on Mac.

These are no factory presets but it is all Plasmonic (like all sound examples I posted here). I just added here some extern reverb and seat the instruments like I would with real acoustic instruments (I use mostly Precedence and Breeze 2 for this from 2CAudio).gunnar wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 6:21 pm Wow. The thing I also like about Plasmonic that the quality of the sound really shines even more with some better reverb on top.
Plasmonic is no synth...it is a living instrument for me.
Sorry, I do not use Facebook, or twitter, or anything else related to social network beside a few music forums...I hate these platforms
I think I will share these presets when I fine tuned them, made them ready for MPE and a few other tweaks but that could take some time and I also just started to explore Plasmonic and see what it all can do. So far I am impressed and can just repeat that it is already my new favourite toy to play with. Finally something I think I will really try to learn inside out and master. It just inspires me and it really plays also so well together with other tools I like which is an important thing for me too.
Brian is a genius for me.

Cine........
If you allow me I would like to post your music there...
I like this very much and agree. I am Kickstarter nr1 and one big plasmonic fanboy.
And these sounds coming from you make me even more into it my favourite instrument....
And now don't let us be distracting you working in these sounds...

And I agree I have one very good reverb and it makes even a chees general midi piano sound MUCH better
