The thread has been quite recently. Not sure anyone will be interested but I added a Happy Nerding 3xMIA. Thought it was a boring purchase but it’s amazing how much control over modulation it adds to my rig. Works well with the four LFO.

Well, let's liven things up again. I have a QPAS, I want a different stereo filter in far less HP, let's talk stereo filter!

I picked up a Tenderfoot SVF 1 cheap, not stereo, but I have been considering an ALA Popple.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Bastl Ikarie seems to be popping up in a lot of demo cases recently.

I just acquired the Neo Trinity from Bastl.
I'm very excited about this module. It packs a ton of modulation features in just 8 hp and is very hands on. There are a few combo's to remember but i watched these videos while waiting for it's arrival and could dive right in when it got here.
In the short session I used it so far, it 's been very fun for drum triggers and cv knob recording.
Introduction video
Comprehensive overview
I ll be kicking out Maths as i much prefer this handson approach in a much smaller package. I ll replace the attenuverting function of Maths with a 3x MIA.

I have a chunk of the B.Roland modules, but, I don't really like them that much. I would buy Abacus(Maths) and Chaos(Marbles). , the B.Arp.1047 filter, A Brains (plaits). After that I would consider what I wanted from a VCO, but, I really love the TipTop 258t. From Behringer I think that the Moob 923 is fun. I really dislike the tiny controls on the Roland stuff. But, I do have one of the dual VCOs and two of the synth voices. They just don't get much use.D-Fusion wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 10:09 pmYes![]()
I have them in my cart while i wait for Thomann to get them in stock
Is there a reason why i shouldn't go for it?
The demos i have heard of the surges filter is exactly the type of sound that i like.
That's for a basic kind of system that is mostly traditional analogue with some modern twists. I started a thread in this a year or two ago. Feel free to bump it, or I will. Then put your system together on Modular Grid and people will give you useful feedback. At least that's what was happening.
The reason i went for this setup was because they sell the system 100 as a bundle for cheap and i wanted to add the other stuff to it to expand it a bit beyond the Broland theme![]()

Responding here to be on topic. What do they want for the bundle. That said, if it's cheap enough, you can't really go wrong. The B stuff is almost like cheap guitar pedals at this point.

They want $361 for it but i will talk to them when they get them back in stock and ask if it is possible to replace the Broland VCO with the Brains since that one is more versatile
I wish the system 100 bundle had 10 more hp spots so it had space for the brains as an additional Oscillator.

That is lovely, and so stylish. I can't unsee the Marshall amp knobs though.

Oh jeez, I didn't realize that there was a general modular discussion thread. I've even posted to this thread before!
Here is what my main eurorack system looked like in May, 2023:

I did a big time downsize and fit my most used modules into a 7Ux104HP Intellijel performance case and a 4Ux104HP Pallet case.
Earlier in the year, it looked like this:

By the end of the year, I hope it looks like this:

I'm 90% there. I just need to find another Piston Honda mk1 with rom expander, for a decent price.
I had one of the very first run of the PHmk1 but over time, it developed a pitch drift issue and I gave the module to someone other than Scott who said they could fix it. Regerts, I have them.
IME/Scott says that may be the next module he revisits, so I'm hopeful I won't have to pay scalper prices.
At one point I had mk1-mk3 versions of both Hertz Donut and Piston Honda, but it's the mk1 versions that I really tend to use more than anything. I still love the mk2 versions and those will be going in a case that will end up with mostly Harvestman and IME modules.
My core synth voice consisting of Hertz Donut, Maths, Woggle Bug and QMMG have largely been the same since 2010/2011.
My preference is clearly for west coast inspired modules but not one-to-one copies. I like a little Serge flavor here, a little Buchla flavor there and some Wiard flavor on the side. I have Serge and Buchla systems with a little Wiard on the side if I want accuracy but in my eurorack systems, I'm just looking for modules I have fun with.
I feel like after these final changes, this system will be locked in, and anything I add will go into different cases. I know, famous last words... but I've been using a lot of these core modules for a decade or more, and it's really just the utilities that have come and gone.
The Vector sequencer is connected though my MIOXL MIDI interfaces, so it can control any synth in my rig. It's really nice to have MIDI sequencing and modular sequencing in the same spot.
Logic and Clock routing are a big deal here. Having some manual switches is just as important for routing to me, as having enough patchable attenuators/VCAs.
In terms of the synth voices and effects, I try to hue as close to one-control-per-function as possible. The Harvestman modules are quirky in this regard, as some of the controls depend on button states but they don't save their settings when you power the synth down. But because of the way I use the HD and PH, it's not a big deal.
If it's interesting to anyone, I can talk more about the current state of this main rig and I can talk about my other eurorack systems as well.

i love error instruments stuff, lots of cool little things.
not for those looking for a bit of classic synth noodling, very elektroakoustik!
