Some winners and losers from Knobcon-
OXI -
Their sequencer felt solid and fun to use and it got an endorsement from one of the speakers that it had been reliable for three years.

Terra was fun to play and behaved exactly like I imagined (except for the pitch wobble)

Just listened to CODE, but it was amazingly phat

Oberheim
I was here more than any other booth because of the TEO 5

And some hardware I could check off my 'want' list:
Analog Solutions had a guy who said the oscillators in the higher octaves were messing up on this Maximus four-voice
Image
Dread Box: the Murmux was OK, but totally not worth the price or space
After Later: not impressed with their upcoming compressors
Novation: the Peak sounded like a plug in and felt cheap

There was plenty more I saw but those are my memories now

Every time I go to KnobCon, I think "that was cool but I don't really need to go again."
Every time I don't go to KnobCon, I think "I kinda wish I had gone to KnobCon."

Nice, that has been on my wish list for many, many years.

Yea, I am glad I went, but now I'm home sick with a horrible flu :(

Well, maybe Constructed Identity will spill the beans and tell us if it sounded souper when he was noodling around with it. :hihi:

I got a Zoom R4 in the mail. It's fun and inspirational to use!

I think it sounds uncanny.

A few years ago one of the DIY workshops was building a Jarmageddon which would have gone great with it...

The DecadeBridge SN that I preordered came today after I already recorded a track this afternoon, and playing with it inspired me to do another one.

Fun little lo-fi, 3-op drone box, or you can control pitch and a VCA with external CV (but the VCA is analog and has no latency, while the pitch input does, so you'll want a gate delay to keep them aligned... or just let it drone or use an LFO or another oscillator like a real modular nerd would :hihi:

There are only a few algorithms (keeping it simple) and they all have one carrier and 1-2 modulators. The second modulator isn't freely tunable but is either /4, /2 or /1.5 the frequency of the first one, but in practice that works pretty great. You can get wobbly vibrato and some great growls and shrieks.

It's not going to replace my Akemie's Castle (I really didn't think it would), in fact that second track used them both.

someone misread all those 'tiny modular' youtubes.

I ordered two new mixers, Wunderbar and Zähl AM-1 as brother and sister to my Neve 8424

Those Zähl consoles are incredible. The CV Channel and Stereo Channels in particular. I spent a lot of time at their booth at NAMM a couple years ago and was just wrapt. Congrats on the fine gear.

Got a bit carried away last weekend and bought a 4ms MetaModule instead of the Oneiroi I'd originally been considering.
I'd already moved a load of modules around this week, so decided to put the MM somewhere its a bit more easily reachable when sitting, then moved Hector beside it on the same row. That pair is braced neatly by the two modules that were already there, Kaseta and an 8HP Ornament and Crime.
The USB cable from a Korg NanoKontrol2 now reaches the MM, so that's nifty for some extra erm, control.
