Actually no. A simple "The price on release will be $X"

At an exact price point, or even close to Arturia's might stop people from getting Arturia's and getting Synapse instead.

But no info before June 9th and, as the poll shows, there are people who won't wait. And, so far, it's not an insignificant number.

And AnX can scream at me for bullying and that it's none of my business all he wants. I've violated no forum rules by conducting a legitimate poll. He's just all butt hurt because it's clearly showing that Arturia's release IS affecting the market, regardless if all the pro Synapse people want to acknowledge that or not.

Again, I own almost everything Synapse has made. I am not the enemy.

At the very least the poll needs the option of waiting till Synapse releases theirs and deciding (or at the very least waiting till June 9th)

The very first option says...

Will buy Arturia before sale ends and not buy Obsession

Meaning if Synapse doesn't release Obsession before June 9th, these people are going to get the Arturia version. How much clearer could I have made it?

Post

That definitely is not the same thing.
It could be people who don't' like Synapse's browsers, don't like Richard, etc. who knows.

I for one will wait to demo both before deciding. I imagine many people will. Which option in your poll covers such people?

The option, "Will buy the one I like better", which has already been suggested, tells us nothing. It doesn't put a tick mark in either Arturia's or Synapses column. We can assume that Synapse's will sound better (I'm almost willing to bet it will) but since sound is so subjective, it's irrelevant unless we can survey buyers after the fact (by then it will be too late) and ask them if they demo'd both and, if so, which did they like better.

All I'm trying to get a handle on right now is how many people won't buy Obsession simply because there is another alternative.

Wags, I definitely don't appreciate how often you get picked on around here (this ain't that), but your poll options are not clear at all IMO. There's far too many variables.

Here's my situation: demoed the Arturia version, sounds bad. Not interested. Waiting for Synapse version: if it sounds good, I'll buy it. If it doesn't, I won't. That situation isn't covered. What if the Synapse version is out before June 9th and people do get the chance to demo both? What if someone doesn't care about June 9th and just wants the best OB-Xa?

Also, I don't think Richard or many business owners really, appreciate people from outside the business conducting surveys on their behalf about lost sales. As an American you may know the saying about not counting other people's money. I'm sure Richard is well aware of the situation with Arturia, and he'll do what he wants with his business. There's no way a similar product coming out from a huge company just ahead of a smaller companies release won't cost the smaller company some level of sales. I don't think anyone needs a poll to tell them that. It could be deemed as insulting their intelligence to throw it in their face and say "SEE!!! YOU'RE LOSING SALES BY NOT PROVIDING MORE INFO OR RELEASING SOONER!" I'm sure Richard understands the situation very well. Maybe he is rushing behind the scenes to get it out sooner, maybe there's a reason he can't, maybe there's a whole new website coming and marketing blitz, maybe he's just sticking with his original plan, who knows? Richard does. We don't need to be privy to that information as customers.

It feels to me like you're in the mindset of "don't want to miss out on the Arturia sale price, but don't want to miss out on Obsession if it really sounds better" and it's causing some level of anxiety due to the June 9th deadline. My advice? Hang tight and worry about it on June 8th if Obsession still isn't out. Or just make a decision, accept it may be good enough, and don't worry about it. No need to become a collector of OB-Xa emulations just because.

why, because you say so? Rich does what he wants, not what bullies tell him to

i couldn't give a f**k, its not my business, you're the one who's getting his flaps in a twist because Rich won't release it when You want.

In retrospect, the poll is kind of a duh statement. Of course both companies will lose sales with competition. When Arturia started working on this (I'm sure it wasn't yesterday) they had no idea Synapse was working on their own. They can't be thrilled about this situation either.

But they did strike first and I can't help but think they rushed the release just a little because of the Synapse news. I just don't believe in coincidences.

I'm just trying, out of sheer curiosity, to see what the split is between them. Maybe the poll isn't accurate enough to do that. Maybe it's even impossible to make a poll that will be accurate enough to do that. All I know is I gave it my best effort and did it with no malice intended. But then of course I get accused of bullying.

For creating a poll? Seriously?

The whole "let's attack Wags no matter what he does" is getting very old. Of course I don't really care anymore, especially when it comes from certain people who I expect to act like an ass.

Anyway, I'm done. If somebody thinks the poll is inappropriate, they can report it to the mods and get it locked.

I really don't care either way at this point.

It's just more of the usual KVR drama because Wags made a poll.

Maybe they should try to get me banned from this place so they won't have to put up with me anymore.

There's way bigger bullies around here. At least you actually meant well.

Any Business 101 course would teach you exactly the opposite, actually.

Niowiad wrote: Thu May 21, 2020 6:19 amWhat completely and unmercifully sets the two apart for me (and anyone else interested) is MPE support.
There are going to be things the OB-Xa V simply will not be able to do, saying this as a happy V7 and future V8 customer.
Really? Like what? I've had Roli controllers now for more than two years and I am yet to find any use for MPE.
I’m not sure what’s more fascinating to me. The fact that you spent years with controllers who’s primary purpose is MPE and couldn’t find a use for it, or that you bought one pretty expensive controller, found MPE useless, and then got another. Without further evidence, I’m going to assume you bought both of them so you could dismiss their primary use on an Internet forum.

That’s nice to hear. I only just found out the original filter was capable of that, but it wasn’t implemented. I do love a good band pass filter.
