It's not really a bend, but I did 'roll my own' Variable Resistance Box with some switches that Reed sent up to me this week.

Inside of her noggin are two 12 position switches with resistors ranging from 2.2ohms to 2.2megaohms. Two screws are located on her neck for attaching test leads (the Frankenstein look was just too tempting, f**k Bannana Jacks and professionalism!)
For a whole shit-ton of pictures of the process that it took to make Sally, I have a photobucket album ripe for the pillaging.
...and if you get off on the sounds of a crappy keyboard going thru pitches, pop on over to my portfolio.

Just curious - why Variable Resistance Box, instead of variable resistor? Repeatability?

Please explain.

I'll try!
You guys are talking about using decade boxes, like in your post about Sally above. I was just curious why you'd go to the bother of making a decade box when you could just use a variable resistor instead.
>>edit
Generally you'd use a decade box when you wanted precise & repeatable values, but it doesn't seem like you do in this application.
I thought I might be missing something...

the variable resistance box is for testing - to see which resistance best suits the bend. once that resistance has been established a resistor (or series of) can be added to the bend to create the desired effect.
to do this with a variable resistor you'd have to pull out your meter and do the math... ultimately a bigger headache.

Seems a lot of buggering about to me when you could use a 1 meg pot, and meter it with a £5 AVO afterwards

The reason I made the 'box is to test precise and repetable values. Each of the switch contacts connects to resistor - The resulting current is sent out the output jack. The resistor values are as follows:Squonk wrote:I'll try!

An AVO dosent' sound like a bad idea and if I decide to make another Test Box, then I might opt for it. However, I'm quite satisfied with my adorable little assistant for the moment.
I've never even heard of the damn thing. If you don't mind tearing it apart, I suggest you do so and let us know if you find any bends.Squonk wrote:Oh, and does anyone have any bends for a Yam DD7 Super Session Player?

There's quite a lot of the Yamaha DD's been done. The bugbrand guy did a DD7, you could maybe email him and ask.Squonk wrote:Oh, and does anyone have any bends for a Yam DD7 Super Session Player?

folks I have a question...my sister was in hollistic healing and the like...she had these devices that transmitted audio signals through the body to heal (or so they say)...I still have two of these and IIRC they both just produce a sine wave through headphones...do you suppose there is anything fun I can do with these? (please no one ping only jokes
)

probably
im still looking for tomy womb sounds machine
obviously you need some circuitry to bend, and you may only get a few simple bits added, on the other hand you may find some really nice interesting bends in them.
its not really an exact science when it comes to unseen circuits, yeah you can copy all the speak n spells you can find, but the sense of joy when you find that hitherto unseen noise toy

hmmmm....it would justify my keeping them for several years...
