Alex, has ReWire support been improved in v6 ? I noticed that in v5 you couldn't group two mono channels to make a stereo pair and vise versa. It would be awesome if the channel input allowed the following...

Reason Mix L + R
Reason Channel 3
Reason Channel 4
...
Reason Channel 64

then
Reason Mix L
Reason Mix R
Reason Channel 3/4
Reason Channel 5/6
.etc
Reason Channel 63/64

Check out how Ableton does this and you'll see what I mean. If that gets implemented, I might finally make the switch from Cubase !! Sonar is looking awesome !

Cheers

I am waiting with baited breath for this improvement as well. Tracktion2 handles this perfectly as well. I was so shocked that Sonar doesn't do this!

It's also pretty unimportant, as long as it works. My pet peeve about Sonar's VST-support is that it makes a lousy job of organizing the plug-ins. It should at least obey the directory structure.
SONAR 6 does that properly now. We'll obey the directory structure and/or you can make your own custom layouts.
This is GREAT NEWS! Thanks for clarifying Alex. Really looking forward to V6 (been on this platform since Cakewalk for Windows 1.0!)

I really think I might jump ship to Sonar, the only things I can think of that are missing is mapping for external synths and FX and Side chainging but it looks like that might be in in the future!

Yeah, you could use it for sidechain-like functionality, sure.

It's not a proper sidechain, but it's an awesome feature for you creative types... :)

Well, it's about goddamn time.
I realize why they didn't before but that was really hurting them.

.
but how i remember the yells and screams of the sonar fanbois -- "NO BUT IT IS INTEGRATED"!!!!

hehe when sonar 5 came out thats what they said -- fully integrated vst support... didnt happen. something tells me they got it right with the new version and that is nice :) might just be a worthy host now!!!

so :P and  to all of you who argued with me on that one :hihi:
Yup, we got it right this time, thanks. :)
well, it was honestly a big irritation, now with this out of the way, i think you will find at least SOME more people jumping on the the sonar ship!!!! (for this reason alone i mean... there are plenty of other reasons that sonar is a great product :) )

all the best to your new product :)

That's a good idea, and multiple hosts could honor that scheme. As far as Sonar is concerned, assuming Cake's changes don't go as far as we'd like you can always define Track Templates (even multiple for one plug) and organize however you want. More or less the same difference.
In S6 you can make custom plug-in menu layouts - as many as you want.

So, you can organize plug-ins any way you want to, and you can have multiple layouts - organize by type (compressors, EQs, reverbs), or by application (electro plugs, drum plugs, vocal plugs), whatever.

Crap, yeah, I know what you mean. Sorry, no, we didn't get to that for S6. :(

I can't believe no one's mentioned the awesome Active Controller Technology yet. I was about to buy a Novation Remote SL for the automap feature--now I don't have to.

If it works as well as Reason 3's pioneering ReMote technology, it will be simply awesome! Having said that, Live 6 is also promising something similar, and having tried it in the beta version, it is less than impressive with my M-Audio Ozonic. It just doesn't map the things I would naturally expect.

Sonar's ACT might easily suffer the same problem, so it is one of those things that we will only be able to judge once the demo is available.

When will there be a list of supported MIDI hardware controllers, I wonder (similar to the lists Ableton and Propellerhead both published for supported kit)...

Post

So nothing about external FX and synths  Then nothing interesting for me :?

Apparently, the iZotope Radius timestreatch/pitchshift algorithm is used in Logic Pro 7. This will also be available in Cakewalk's Sonar 6 via AudioSnap. This allows tracks to sync together (similar to Ableton Live)

Has anybody used/heard this algorithm in use and if so, how does it compare with say Ableton Live's/FL Studio (Z-Plane) and Melodyne ?

Also, is this a real time algorithm ?

(The iZotope web site doesn't have very convincing samples)

Thank you.

@headquest:

I can't find the list of supported hardware for live, could you give me a hint where could it be?

Could you at least route audio freely? E.g. that you can route any and all audio channels to other audio channels, without resorting to making group channels.
