a send is just an invisible main window comp with volume levels per input cable.

I
to see all those invisible components/connections in the main window but I bet it would be tough deriving the logic to rearrange the mixer when you change connections in the main window.

hmmm... the only thing i can think of that would be a problem is that "Audio In" comps don't have send levels, so if you connected them in the main window, it wouldn't show in the mixer. when we get pre-fader sends, that would be an additional consideration.
everything else that you could do to a send in the main window can already be done in the mixer/sequencer. well, except for midi output connections but those don't show up in the mixer anyway.
i'll shut up about this for now. at least until i have a chance to draw some pictures of it.

AFAICT, that would only really be an issue if you wanted to include inserts as well. Essentially the only things you can do to a send are give it more inputs and give it more outputs, both of which are provided for quite happily.soma wrote:Ito see all those invisible components/connections in the main window but I bet it would be tough deriving the logic to rearrange the mixer when you change connections in the main window.
Pre / post fader would be a little confusing. I guess you'd just have to assume that any line in the main window is 'post fader'.
I thought it was more a philosophical thing about 'keeping the mixer and comp window seperate'. Which I don't really understand - if I'm going to flick between the two, I'd rather have them be different ways of interfacing with most of the same information than have to remember what I've done in one when I'm looking at the other, and if I'm only going to use one, I don't really care what the other's doing.
It's a rave, Lewis!

something would also have to be done with multichannel plugins as sends. and sends sending to other sends...

please allow custom coloring of (selected) channels in the mixer.
with lot of channels in the mixer (especially multi-out vsti's )
it is really difficult to find anything.
edit.
it does not have to be custom colors.
could be a option to have big icon, or marker, or anything, just to be able to quickly
find it.

I'm getting annoyed at there not being an indicator wether you're using the track eq's. I rarely have that tab open, and it's a pain to have to go through a project you haven't opened in a while, checking to see if you're using them anywhere. I've driven myself crazy trying to find out why I couldn't get any high tones out of an instrument, only to find out I had a lowpass on the track
Just have the word 'eq' lit up 'green/whichever highlight-colour is set in the theme' whenever the other tab is in focus. And have the same thing for the sends/inserts tab, ofcourse. Whichever of these is not in focus should light up green when (depending on which one we're talking about) one of the eq-slots is in use (powered on), there's an insert, or it's sending >0 to an insert. Also, a powerbutton for inserts (so you can quickly toggle between off and whatever percentage you were sending) and a powerbuttons for ALL inserts or sends would be nice. Sometimes you just want to toggle all the effects so you can hear what the difference is exactly. Also, if anyone's ever used Photoshop this one might be familar: dragging over multiple power-buttons toggles them all, rather than having to click each one individually.
I think these will be beneficial to anyone who uses these functions. Feel free to expand on these!
Or just to disagree, as I'm having to do with the very first request in this thread: Channels can be part of multiple groups, your suggestion seems to ignore this.
edit: and dear lord, do I ever agree with 'colouring channels'. +1 to that!

the ability to show/hide sequencer audio tracks in the mixer... "components" hides everything and sometimes it's useful to just see vsti channels... especially when some vsti channels are located on one side of a 10+ audio track sequencer and the rest on the other and you want to move them around for housekeeping purposes.
