I don't know: I downloaded it quickly, and I don't think it ever got seeded after that. Anyone know what to do in utorrent to check if it's seeding properly?

Post

i think for seeding the open port is even more important, so check for the setup port in µTorrent and test it with :
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
and your ip.
i may be wrong thought. in generall you don't need to set up anything.

Guys! Before you start digging up your ports make sure you are logged in on the nebula-programs.com forum when you try to download, as the tracker will not let you in otherwise. I've had the same problem with downloads hanging with no activity in spite of existing seeds. Took me over 24h of thinking 'wtf is it not working?' before I noticed an error message in uTorrent (which is great btw) saying something about LOGIN - and then the penny dropped ;)

EDIT: I've downloaded all the programs released so far on nebula-programs.com yesterday so you should also be able to do that.

I have unfortunately extracted them and deleted the sources and cannot seed now...

Thanks, dasdek. The connection checker in utorrent said I was cool, but your test there said "Port 80 is closed on 24.85.230.210". Is that bad?

no, port 80 can be closed, µTorrent shouzld use another port. alos the version (most rescent) i have does not have checking port option anymore (afaik), so maybe time for update ;)?
Some programs (skype) use/rely on prot 80 to be open also they do not explicitly state it. And an Http server of course needs port 80, as every webbrowser looks for served websites at port 80 first.
dont forget to check "Paulie Phonick" suggestions. i did not see a relation between login status and seeding though, but i did not pay attention that much anyways.

P.S.
@Paulie Phonick. where did you read the error message? µTorrent?

peace.

I used utorrent to download successfully...at first I could see no seeds, so after a while I deleted the torrent and re-activated it, then it downloaded no problem. I think the same thing happened when I tried to seed it after restarting utorrent, but it eventually worked again.

I have no real idea why, but if you can't get utorrent downloading then switch to Azareus for this site...there seems to be no problem with that downloading.

These must get updated continuously. I have 1.3.049 and I only downloaded it a few months ago. Are users never going to be notified of updates via e-mail? Just wondering.
The developments are rather fast, and you need a new version quite ofter if you plan to download every new library. In general an update is not mandatory, but in this case we found a bug.
Yes, we advertised this version with a newsletter a couple of weeks ago.

Zaphod, it appears I'm not subscribed to the newsletter! Would you have a link for that please? :)

In my case it was like an on/off switch. No workie - log in - workie ;)

Yup. Click on a torrent in the list, then General tab below and it was in the Tracker status field if I remember correctly.

part of the tests I referred to earlier involved multiple tracks printed with Nebula and identical tracks printed with UAD plugs, all set rather painstakingly, actually. There was, very much in my opinion and at least in the case of the acoustic guitar tracks with which I was working, no appreciable difference.
That's actually great news from where I'm standing, having always been curious about UAD plugins, but not wanting to buy into their old card (or price actually). Just using my ears without comparing to hardware, I really like the sound of this new EQ. If it's almost exactly what the UAD 1073 would give me, that's fine by me. :)

I just wanted to add, cpu isn't a real issue to me. I use Reaper on a Q6600, I save 2 instances of Nebula3/1073 ( one Lo, and one combo or hi) as an fx chain or track template, so it's like one click to insert it already set up, which uses around 3% CPU. Then once I've tweaked it, I 'apply fx as new take' (again, one or two clicks or a keystroke)and the cpu hit is gone. To retweak, I hit T, tweak, and then 'freeze' again. This way I can have pretty much unlimited instances running with no cpu impact, it makes you commit to a sound and it's not a big deal to retweak again. This works per item (clip) or track for me.

It does use a bit more HD space, but that's cheap these days. You could probably do this with other hosts with decent freeze also (I'm no expert on other daws though)...just thought I'd share my workflow with Nebula!

Cheers! :)

To all guys with problems in downloading.
It would just be a good idea to report it back on the site where you have problems!

There are a few issues and we are working on that but if you don't ask me I cannot help you to solve!

Just downloaded once again with correctly configured Azureus:
No problems at al. Average speed ~200KB/s (this is max for my connection)

Thanks, velinus. Actually, this is funny: my BEA1073 torrent is seeding now! I wonder who's leeching from me...oh, look! There I am! :D

You're welcome - and there's no need to "quote my nick" ;)
