Anyway, emotionally intense - Grace by Jeff Buckley springs to mind, as well as +1 for Hurt by Johnny Cash.
The most emotionally intense song you've ever heard?

Have I already posted in this thread, or was there another one about songs which make you cry?

my "list" is way too long...and mind you: none of us get to actually *choose* what touches us... be it music, literature or an effin' commercial on television. Resonance sometimes just happens and hell if I can tell ya why I am completely affected by some things some times an other things (that "normal" human people are affected by)...I'm completely neutral toward those. Maybe everyone is like that a little? Probably a chemical imbalance in my case. Maybe I need to eat more greens and less bbq. feh. Here's an abbreviated list in NO particular order:
Pat Metheny- are you going with me
barber- adagio
pete townsend- (acoustic version) behind blue eyes
Stravinsky- Rite of Spring and Firebird suite
Paul Melancon- cover of Hot Chocolate's "Emma"
Mark Isham- Chains of Liberty
Hank Williams Sr- So Lonesome I Could Cry
Elvis Costello -my funny valentine
Tom Waits -Bottom of the World
neil young-Sugar Mountain
tones on tail- rain
Chris Whitley -Shine
David Bowie -Ashes to Ashes
Ministry -Breathe
Adrian Belew -the final rhino
Glenn Phillips- Little Red Soldiers Under My Skin

Some crossover from the other thread, but whatever.
Finale of Mahler's 2nd symphony.
Fourth movement of Valentin Silvesterov's Requiem for Larissa
Istvan Marta - Doom. A Sigh
Void - Why? (this song has the most frustrated and desperate sounding vocals I've heard in the genre)
Henryk Górecki's 3rd symphony
Márta Sebestyén - Szerelem, Szerelem
Valya Balkanska - Izlel e Delyu Haydutin
Schubert - Der Doppelganger
Crass - How Does It Feel?
Whoever it was that sang the Auschwitz lament on the Lacho Drom soundtrack, I've misplaced my copy, and I can't for the life of me find it out online
I'd think of more stuff, but I'm tired as hell right now…

Oh, I forgot Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" mostly for personal reasons but I'm sure most will agree.
Ugh... painfully beautiful
What about intensely joyful, anybody got something like that?
Code: Select all
Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coaches
Sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thoughts
Of ever returning you
Wouldnt they be angry
If I thought of joining you?
Gloomy sunday
Gloomy is sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and i
Have decided to end it all
Soon therell be candles
And prayers that are said I know
But let them not weep
Let them know that Im glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death Im caressin you
With the last breath of my soul
Ill be blessin you
Gloomy sunday
Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart here
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy sundayWhat about intensely joyful, anybody got something like that?

I've gotta go with "He Loved Him Madly" by Miles Davis. The original is good but I actually prefer the edited version that Bill Laswell did.
