Yeah, that's the KVR-mentality I was talking about ...

Thx for proving my point.

Again, I can't believe that people are actually trying to compare both. Ben from Camel Audio even stated that they're 2 totally different products.

But seriously:
Comparing the those two synths by the information we have at this point, it's just utopic to think Alchemy would even come close to Omnisphere.
for you maybe. many of us have imaginations though, we also like the idea of using our own sounds in our tools.
if others are happy with having someone else provide every sound they use then great.
import, its the one thing that sets them apart, to the point i feel any comparison is somewhat idiotic, one is a sampler synth the other is a rompler. you buys whats you needs.

Omnisphere isn't a sampler or solely a rompler, it's a synth... you can make your own patches.

i never said it was a sampler.

No, from what I understand it's a hybrid rompler / "power" synth and you can use it's rompler sounds just like wave forms in a standard synth's oscillator.

well either way it supports the point i made that comparisons are idiotic, from either pov.

Well I agree with you on that because as I stated as well, they are not comparable.

fwiw ill be using both, in the situations they are useful and strong in.

Yes but that voting ratio is just not going to reflect reality. If Alchemy has sold 20% of what Omni will have done within a couple of years, they would have made quite a killing. I wish both the best of futures but this is kinda underground polling, which won't translate the same way in actual sales figures..above ground (but all in good fun). Spectrasonics I would say have a significant userbase/mindshare through past success and therefore quite a bit of muscle towards the marketplace.

I hate to change the subject but I was listening to feather... really some great stuff in there (Vurt) 8)

I'm not surprised.

The KVR mentality demands absolute despise for tools not affordable.

I voted for both...but I'm not even sure if I'm buying Alchemy. I'm just a Camelspace/Camelphat fan. I expect both Alchemy and Omnisphere to be great products. When I know more about the former I'll make a final decision.

Ah..so that is where it's coming from, thanks for the enlightenment. I got some kinda cult/clan vibe from certain shared sentiments. Regardless, one new Ferrari for Mr Persing could have a future license plate entitled "hype..". :hihi:

According to the guys at VI Control, East West's Forbidden Planet is also a possible competitor:

It looks like Forbidden Planet will not have multiple synthesis, but only FX modulation and morphing?

Post

I don't see how Forbidden Planet can be compared to Omnisphere. From what I have heard, Omnisphere is not a dark soundscape-generating synth (maybe it can be)- but more of a atmospheric pads/vox/synth machine for more melodic use. I can see these 2 complimenting each other more than anything else.other more than anything else.
