after day 1 with Synplant: best buy this year. This is really a truely innovative and inspiring synth and i can load several instances in one track without freeze and bounce.

Wow!

The 28 automatable parameters are the genes-parameters. The plants can be automated with the modwheel as kuniklo mentioned earlier.
This doesn't seem to be the case for me, trying the demo in Logic 7.

same in fl studio, i think. haven't tried in my other hosts, yet. really like the synth so far - so immediate to get nice results. i'm sure this won't be an epiphany to everyone and end world hunger or anything, but i think it's a really refreshing take on synthesizers - finally someone to go BEYOND just random randomization plus making it easy to use. :)

Synthesis meets gaming, I love it! Nice sounds, fun to use, one of the most beautiful interfaces.

Not quite. It doesn't count hours, it counts weeks, that is: You could use it for a week, have a break of any length, then use it another week, have another break and then use it a third week.
Aah...that sound less...weird :)

Still quite nice that you're not screwed when you forget about the demo for a couple weeks.

As another of the beta testers, I always felt that the power
of Synplant was the necessity of stepping outside of the
normal mindset while programming. It also seemed to
lend itself to unexpected results which could then be
further refined. And it was fun to use, an attribute which
is not always the case even with otherwise great creative
tools.
I feel fortunate to have had the experience of helping to
bring Synplant to fruition :-), and wish all those at
Sonic Charge great good fortune with their new offering.
Cheers,
Scott

"For evaluation purposes you are allowed to try Synplant for up to three weeks with full functionality. The trial begins the first time you open Synplant in your host sequencer. Synplant then only subtracts weeks from the trial time when you actually use it." (from http://www.soniccharge.com/synplant )

Thanks, just tried the demo for a second. This thing is truely innovated. I can see Minimal artists absolutely loving it.

Richie Hawtin needs to get his hands on this now. :)

Yeah minimals exactly what i thought when i tried it. Given the diversity of sound you could probably do full tracks just with just eggplant and microtonic.

One thing I wish for is some kind of built-in level adjustment, automatic or not. If different notes on the keyboard have different genetic strains and some are perceptibly louder than others it'd be nice to compensate without having to edit velocity afterwards, or rely on less surgical dynamics plugins or something.

Minor quibble though; this synth excites me like nothing has in a long time.

It encourages tweaking, but it also seems to help kill off perfectionism the way Ugo's Element of Surprise does.
