But lets not make this a discussion of dongles, when the author already decided to use serials. Afterall, this thread is about his compressor, and there are plenty of these discussions on kvr already.

I tried to use a demo of a plugin by a company that used a dongle once. The process of authorising involved a torturous process that failed half way through and resulted in the dongle being in an unrecoverable state of not allowing me to authorise re-authorise the plugin since the authorisation process was half way through, but the plugin not working since it wasn't authorised - Joseph Heller anyone?
My protection is a serial number, not challenge and response based on some operating system heuristic. It will never time out, or stop working for any reason to do with you changing hardware in your system. You will be able to authorise on multiple machines and you will have the license to use it for a single composition at a time, even if that spans multiple machines (eg using a second machine for extra processing via some vst send / return network plugin).
Your serial number will be stored for you by me in a database as well as emailed to you. Feel free to save it to a file on a usb key along with the installer so you can install it wherever, but only for your personal use.

Considering it is already at least half the price of most other comps I'll just keep it simple for starters and just have the one fixed price. When I'm more organised I'll think about what do to with large volume licensing deals for universities / studios etc.fjolle wrote:Another thing to consider; Educational licenses. Do you have a standpoint on that?

A new audio example thanks to danielm who knocked it up on on his laptop with minimal kit whilst on holidays. Again, dry then processed, and this is just a comp on the whole mix and nothing else:

also another Micro Tonic dance loop:

Hi
I'm danielm, and made the track Andy posted
I'm sorry for the poor mix quality, i'm away from my studio in the holidays like Andy said.
I had to use my apple-in ear (should at least have brought some decent headphones with me now i couldn't have the monitors, but forgot) so the bottom of the track is likely to be way overemphatized or too small and the bass is a bit flappy and loose (But it sounds decent on apple-in ear, at least hehe).
About the compressor, I think it did an exceptionally well job. I'm very impressed of how it kept the bottom tight and leveled while still managing to add punch. There's also a good amount of (pleasant) pump, which makes the track move a bit. Again, i think it performed really, really well.
Thanks a lot to Andy for taking the time to compress my little example.
(i did try to reply to the e-mail, but get a returned-mail error)

It seems that my web hoster is having some troubles, sorry about that, please try again if you want, it was probably just an error that will go away.fjolle wrote:(i did try to reply to the e-mail, but get a returned-mail error)

Andy if it keeps giving you a headache then i recommend giving mediafire a look for quickly sharing audio examples and the like its clean, free and not porn ridden like some of the other similar sites. Actually to test it out here is a dry simple drumloop from EZdrummer which you could squish for me if you like
http://www.mediafire.com/file/tuntzd3dizm/Drums Dry.wav
It really is the best of them for rapid sharing, i can understand wanting to keep everything in one place totally as it makes life much easier, however if you get stuck/frustrated its worth a look mate for quick fixes
Best regards to you

No need to, nothing important. Just a "no problem", "thanks for testing" and "thanks for considering".andy_cytomic wrote:It seems that my web hoster is having some troubles, sorry about that, please try again if you want, it was probably just an error that will go away.fjolle wrote:(i did try to reply to the e-mail, but get a returned-mail error)

And a comment to a few things;
To which i agreedI could have pushed it harder, but I thought medium pumping was
all that was needed to give this some some extra rhythm and grit

Ok, another audio example, thanks to Dean / Nekro for putting this one together of acoustic drums from Addictive Drums. Both the dry and wet version are normalised to -0.5 dB:NEKRO.MACHINE wrote: http://www.mediafire.com/file/tuntzd3dizm/Drums Dry.wav

An interesting thing to note on this example is that I had to double the bit rate of the mp3 to make it sound as good as the other accoustic examples. I'm pretty sure this will be to do with the source material, since the other mp3 encoded examples all sound fine.
