Hi there. Just uploaded my track "Free Form"; however, typically, I somehow managed to upload two instances of it :dog: so if you could delete one?! Ta.

Red peppers in dynamite sauce? I must have been out of my mind!

No probs MB, Cheers for the submission! :)

Does anyone think it might be worthwhile putting a collection of presets together for Crystal? It strikes me that of all the featured synths so far, this one is probably the one which has taken more 'getting the hang of than the others .... a set of patches, particularly of basic 'bread and butter' sounds might be useful to new users. Having said that, other than the circumstances of this comp, would anybody in their right mind use this beast for a bass drum? :hihi:

If theres some interest, I'll happily collect, compile and host a crystal presets file.

Post

I didn't put a whole lot of effort getting a bass drum. The hardest part was eq and compression after the basic kick sound to shape it right. But no, crystal would not be my go to instrument for a kick, lol. Thinking about getting microtonic though, these OSCs have made me appreciate a well synthesized kick. :)

Post

By the way, anyone notice the OSC's bring in all sorts of new faces? Like the TAL contest, several of the submissions were done by members with less than a handful of posts. I think that's a great thing!

Post

Yeah MadPsyance, I certainly did notice that about the Tal OSC! .... it may be that it is less intimidating to write a track than risk posting an opinion on KVR :hihi: .... in which case, let the comps continue!! :)

OK, confession time! I am officially embarrassed that I did not spot the name of the dev of Crystal amongst the posts!

Post

But at least you said cheers...

Post

Yes Yeager, its a good job I make a point of responding to as many people's posts as I can :hihi:

Anyway, to Glenn, cheers all the more for your comments :)

Now its time to close the hosting folder! last I looked there were 8 entries .... which is a good number! ( memory span of a stunned goldfish and all that! )

Thanks once again to all contributors .... look out for the poll thread :)

Post

Bloody 'ell!! bear with me guys, I'm having a few probs sorting out the file permissions in this bloody 4Shared account .... it keeps signing me off mid-process. This was a great hosting option until just a few weeks ago, then they added little annoyances for free account holders so we might be pressured to upgrade to a paid version ..... but it aint gonna work on me!

... dont worry, I'll get there!

Post

OK, done. Folder now closed to uploads!

Post

Zip file ( Crystal comp ) uploaded with all the tracks in it.

The TAL challenge has 22 entries, and coincidentally right now (16 days later!!) there are a measly 22 votes. I feel a large part of this is due to the fact that people don't want to be bothered to download a zip to hear all the entries.

My advice, if you want anyone outside our little circle of participants to actually listen to these gems, is to find a way to stream the tracks from the very first post of this voting thread.

I know there is an "embed" feature for each mp3, so I believe it may be possible to let people stream them from the first post.

I would hate for voting for this contest to end after 1 week with 9 or 10 votes. These tracks truly are gems that deserve to be heard!

Post

Hi MP, I dont really want to comment on other OSCs set up, but I certainly think its good to have the tracks all in one place from start to finish, and have as many ways of accessing them as poss.

Right now there are 3 ... listen, or download individual tracks, or download the zip.... and I'm sure we'll have an additional streaming page courtesy of BrainOvulation when I ask him. :) ( where are you BrO ? )

Oh yeah... heres that link again :)
