Are you forgetting the iPad thread?
I dunno, I don't think that one is as bad.

I bet Sascha cries bitter tears when he visits this thread and curses the day Silenceborn got his first guitar...

I also bet IKM's Peter now rejoicingly dances through his office, whistling jolly melodies and praising the day Vandal came out.

Luckily I missed that one as Apple's latest and greatest doesn't interest me that much. However:

iPad = winner in terms of sound quality so far

works for me as the next thread title around here.

Let's see if we can drag that one out to at least 20 pages. :)

No, and maybe :hihi:

WOW! What the hell is going on here? I been over at the other vandal thread! Its too bad this thread has deteriorated, because for what its worth(probably not much) but for what its worth, I thought they did a good job on Vandal..

Just my 2 cents..

Peter, are you serious when you say the italian brains behind at3 would be ok to tell us a bit more about how they do the component level modelling of circuits? I'd be ready to catch a flight and visit them if i was offered such a proposition, no kidding here.

All of this is blahdy blah blah. The op claims he's got no time, yet he's got the time to write lots of rambling love balads and smear rants targeting AmpliTube. Frankly, we should abandon this topic as we're only helping him spread his flames. In three months let's come back and do a poll to see how many of us are using what. I bet that when the dust settles we'll find the majoriety of us are still in love with AmpliTube 3 and Vandel users remain in the margin.

I don't think there's much doubt that IK isn't going to lose sleep over the existence of Vandal or the other amp sims that don't begin to offer the features and depth of their own products. Their biggest competitors have to be Guitar Rig and then GTR, I'd think.

Moreover you think you are grown enough to not playing with toys anymore but what a pity that you just changed your game, I'm afraid while body grown enough the brain is still too young.

But your second ability which has made you a genius is that you (or those "OTHERS") are "busy recording great sounding stuff using "Simulanalog Suite" alone ! " wow what a genius to be honest, I did now know that people can get great sounding stuff using Simulanalog lol..

Anyway just FYI let me tell you that there are too many people included myself that are able to get that GREAT SOUNDING STUFF out of many and almost all the amp sims around included Simulanalog as well for ages and guess what! I do not count myself as one of THOSE busy genius people as well !

Seriously bro, don't be child, grow up or at least do not open your mouth when you don't know how to use it, indeed this time you do not have this ability to use your mouth in an appropriate way so its better to keep it closed when you have no idea what you are talking about. That is the first lesson people like you should learn tbh.

Anyway I'm really disappointed here for there are too many non-adult brains and butt-holes dwelling in these forums and wasting people's time that I can not even count them.

Good luck though and don't worry be happy, it will pass soon whatever it is.. hehe
:hihi: :)

Oh forgot to say sorry for my bad English. as usuall its getting better though :)

Yeah, I think the big ones are AmpliTube, Guitar Rig, and whatever Line6 is currently offering, as far as market share is concern.

I think it's great there are small developers offering their take on ampsims.
I think that kind of competition makes all of the developers better. If it wasn't for the likes of Softube and Overloud, we probably wouldn't have continuous 3D mic placement in AmpliTube 3.

It is pretty difficult for the small developers to carve much of a niche out for themselves though, getting squeezed from underneath with some pretty decent freeware sims, and squeezed from above by AmpliTube, which is not much more expensive, but offers so many more top quality models.

I do think that sometimes the developers, whom we all support, end up as collateral damage in some of these forum flamewars. Remember that the audio software industry is really quite small, and even the big boys are relatively small compared to other industries.

Well Put Redshift...

As a small developer myself, well not small, Minuscule actually..Anyways as a small developer trying to get a niche, it just means that you have to work harder to try and come up with something different and new. To compete with the likes of PV, IK, NI and TH1 at their own game in their own turf is suicide. So, one has to bring the game into their own realm, which can only be done when you have an original outstanding product. I have not found mine yet, but that doesn't mean I won't keep trying.

Threads like this are usually dis-heartening to the developers, no question about that. Whether they are commercial or freeware developers, all want their development to be accepted. I am seriously having doubts that the op has anything to do with the development company as I know if this were my product, and one of my people had started this, there would be an end to it VERY quickly! Hell, I would loose my mind completely! My thoughts are the exact opposite..Perhaps the advertisement, because thats what it is, was done by someone else? I mean really, it is classic posturing...I for one am impressed if thats the case...

Think about this..The thing has been hyped for a year straight, with that type of hype there is no way anything could live up to that..Even as good as I think Vandal is...So, its a no brainer to know that when it comes out people would have some things to say, and they would be negative...I mean with DIMI recording 9,000 demos and threads running for a year talking about it, people speculating, etc. They start to get unrealistic thoughts. I'm in no way saying that all you guys points are not valid, to each their own. I'm just saying that, if another company wanted to setup a simple smear, all they would have to do is have a guy like silenceborn start saying its the most amazing thing in the world, guaranteed people would take issue with it as there is no way the software could live up to the hype. Its quite rudimentary and if that did happen, it was very well executed...Same postings at a bunch of different forums to give the illusion that the op is working for the company, it makes some sense...and, since the op is NOT working for the company, they keep the fire burning by continuing to post..If the op was working for the company, why would they let him continue to respond while their product is getting killed...?

Just sayin...

Now what I wanted to say as well is that its too bad the hype was so great because there really is some interesting stuff in Vandal. I really like where they are going with the cabs. I mean given a little more time and some concise comments and direction from the users, I am sure we'll see some really interesting developments with those cabs. Those things have me on the edge of my seat...really. I've been trying to research what they did in them and all I can say is WOW...WTF are they doing? Great job on them for sure...

Well said redshift AND JohnnyMcFly.

redshift's point about even the "big boys" being relatively small is one I was dying to make myself but is better said by someone not employed by one of the developers to be honest. So, thank you. Since that is really true. Another point about that is that the competition amongst all players in audio software is actually pretty cool competition in my book. It is actually pretty respectful and friendly as far as I've seen. While I'm not going to go post a bunch of glowing reviews of everybody else's product daily, I'm certainly going to say that as musicians a lot of us here will admit that if it sounds good - we like and respect it. If one of us thinks something doesn't sound good, and respecting the subjective nature of THAT , well then we just don't like it. No need to be negative about it, just something one might not like to use. I've personally been a huge fan of the IK products for far longer than I've been with them so I feel like the guy that got pulled out of the audience to sing for the band (yeah, I know, that example was a not-so-good movie plot years back :) ).

That brings me to JohnnyMcFly's point about hype. Oh what a dangerous line THAT is to tread. Trust me. :) We'll admit that it doesn't always work. But when you are proud of a product and know its top-notch like the excitement that was felt here over AmpliTube 3 we get excited and hype happens from us. Hype happens from people outside the company too, as noted above, and it can be a hard thing to deal with since you have people very interested and, especially in the Dimi example, capable doing and saying amazing things with the product.

I'm not sure someone would go to the lengths to be as clever as a "reverse smear" though, as noted above. The developers around here, from freeware to miniscule (not my word!) up through the "bigger" companies are a pretty cool class of people as far as I've seen here and elsewhere. Some of us do, as I can admit to in this very thread, take the pride in the products somewhat personally and don't want to see things stated that minimize or downplay the hard work that goes into these products. It is also disheartening to see personal smears against other companies' products too, though, since we all really do respect others' work and realize that there's a great byproduct of competition: BETTER AND VARIED PRODUCTS. Which means, based on differing taste and products with varied feature sets, a great CHOICE for consumers.

Sorry, that was very long and I know OP wanted to discuss something a little different, but I feel it was relevant and worth the time for some.

I'm not sure if that's a bad thing, I love all the sims I have including AT3. Now I love my amps more since discoverying Ted Weber attenuators. But the truth is I'm not a main stream, go with the flow kind of guy. So I doubt much will change.

Because of cpu usage AT3 is always going to be delegated to re-amping, likely the same with Vandal, waves and gr4, when I'm recording my tracks the pod xt live will always be my reference amp. I have no doubt that like I said earlier in the thread I'll be using more than one sim in a song and/or layering them. (remember Hink's Razor, the best on is the one I didn't get)

I'm not sure what's really all that bad about the op's posts, I've seen just about all of us say similar on one product or another especially the ones being more vocal about it (Peter excluded of course because of his position). It doesn't really matter much anyhow because with all such threads we have to weed out the trash from useful posts and there almost always things of value in these threads.

Having a wide choice I cannot say any of them are my favorite and I doubt I ever will, I know that ear fatigue will not be an issue. But I think going out on a ledge and saying the majority of us will still be in love with AT3 is a bit out of line. I'm not saying you're wrong because it does seem to be the most popular, but I am saying (I'm having a hard time wording this because I mean no offense)...well it seems to suggest that there is AT3 and then the rest and there are some that are not gong to agree with that. It's really not any better than the crux of this thread you want to stop discussing is saying, yeah you're saying it more respectfully but in a way you're putting down all the other sims too.

I don't want to be an ass and say speak for yourself, but that is kind of how I feel inside. So I'm a little confused on what your post is suppose to add, zc...no offense intended of course because I consider you a friend first but I dont see the point, especially how it sounds like being "in the margin" is negative.

But then I hate Gibson and I have no doubt ten years from now the les paul will still be the "must have guitar" for many...so what do I know :hihi:
