...i told you, didn't I ? :P

You sure did, didn't you?
I was wondering at what degree this particular technique would have been involved into your reverb unit if its the case
At the time you wrote that post, it hadn't been integrated at all. I tried it yesterday, and liked the results.

I don't know if it is really deserved, but I feel honoured...

since I am now running Windows 7 64 bit I hope your Windows version of your plug will be 64 bit as well. thanx and looking forward to purchasing a 64 bit version.

Not initially. I don't have a 64 bit Windows 7 system, so I have no way of testing this. Once I've sold a few copies, I will be purchasing a Win 7 laptop, or I may install it on my MBP - but I don't want to mess up my development environment before the release.

64 bit Audio Units are a different story. I have everything needed from a tools perspective to develop and test these. The initial 64 bit AU may be delayed a few days from the main release, but it should be fairly straightforward to develop - other developers using my framework have released 64 bit Audio Units.

I'm glad I checked this thread, this looks wonderful.

I hope it's not too expensive. :hihi:

I mentioned a few days ago that I created a new reverse pitch shift mode for ValhallaShimmer. I am deep into coding today, but I thought I would post a few examples of the pitch shifting, comparing both the old and new modes.

Here's the dry sample being used (same as an earlier post):

http://www.valhalladsp.com/sounds/Valha ... tarDry.mp3

I'm starting with a basic big hall sound. The reverb mode is set to bigStereo, with feedback at 0.7, size at 0.5, color mode at dark, mix at half, moderate amounts of modulation, and the pitch mode at "bypass":

The next example has the same settings, but the pitch mode is set to "single":

http://www.valhalladsp.com/sounds/Valha ... taveUp.mp3

Same as above, but pitch mode is set to "singleReverse":

http://www.valhalladsp.com/sounds/Valha ... taveUp.mp3

Notice how there is less noise in the decay, and that the overall timbre is more organ-like, less orchestral than the "single" pitch mode.

Sounds reasonable..

And then this...

Sean, you are too nice. You need to get your framework back from the 'other' developers and insist they get their own tools. Might even speed up your release schedule. :)

Sorry, I should have said "the same development environment that I am using." I am using Juce, which a lot of other developers seem to use as well (D16, Togu Audio Line). For example, the latest TAL-Reverb II was released as a 64 bit AU, as well as a 64 bit Windows VST.

Sorry, I was trying to be funny. You know - what if there was only one copy of JUCE in the world and you had to share it....*sigh* seemed funny at the time.

And I'm getting the 404 error here too. Maybe only one at a time can hear it. :hihi:

Links fixed in the post in question now. Sorry about that.

Sorry, my humor center seems to be temporarily impaired. I've been staying up pretty late, as this is the best way of getting questions answered on the Juce forum with about a 20 minute lag, as opposed to a day. I think Jules (the Juce guy) works 9 to 5, which translates to "super late to way too early" here.

That is a very funny joke, human. Must program now. *beedle boop* There is...no...sanctuary...

New reversey mode sounds much smoother, can't wait to get my hands on it :)

Maybe it doesn't make big sense but i suggest you try this mode with slow portamento/glissando or similar signals to see how it benaves

I suspect that in the particular case, the combination of both reversed grains (of then, rising pitches when dry gliding signal is pitching down, you see ?) and reverberation can blurr the wet signal significantly *

Depends on both size of the grains and portamento speed of the incoming signal, as far as i can figure out,
It could be a desired or unwanted effect but you might have to deal with, just have a try...

____

*P.S.
Silly me i just didn't thought immediately : of course in traditionnal reverb the rendering of a portamento is blurred by the effect, i assume though that it will be drastically increased by this particular transposition mode with (long ?) grains of reversed signal...

hmm, you had my attention with previous examples, now you have my full, undivided attention. Waiting for the release announcement :)
