Hmm...

$20.11 isn't too bad. I might jump on it for a future upgrade path.

The lack of VST support wouldn't be distressing in a DAW that costs $20.11. It is, however, in a DAW that costs $249. Which is what this thing normally sells for.

I'm amazed...it seems like such an essential feature of current DAW's. The only thing that would be worse to cut is actual...you know...audio recording.

Still, though, the possibility for a cheaper end price for the PRO variant is what would make this worthwhile. Otherwise...at retail...completely useless.

I agree with much (if not all) of this. I'm trying to be rational. Do I really need another host? No!

but like the shell game.....it is enticing.......

Have to say, I bought Artist yesterday and am demoing Pro now to see if this feels like a better bedfellow than Logic to go with Ableton Live.

I've had Logic for years, been through so many tutorials, tried writing tracks with it but I don't think I've ever really clicked with it... It just feels cumbersome to me.

I love Live to bits but it needs a sensible mate to help it when it struggles... so far Studio One is shaping up nicely, feels a lot more logical and friendly than Logic ever did.

Spending a lot more time with this app it is surprising how much the development of it is similar to Reaper, a whole bunch of great stuff, a million loose ends.

Silly little things like having a drum machine that you can't save kits in ?

Definitely has a nice workflow, however i have realised that workflow actually isn't everything to me and there is so much stuff i would miss from Reaper that i just couldn't use this app seriously at the moment.

It does have a serious wow factor but that wears off after a few hours of realising that things are stunted (I mean seriously in an app that can't load VST plugins you would expect them to make the instruments save their soundsets properly)

Obviously will keep an eye on it now i spent the 20 bucks but it is a novelty nothing more for me until they sort out the little usability issues.

Open Impact, drag samples to the pads to make a kit, click on the little file button on the top left beside the preset name, select "Store Preset..."

And if you want to make a multisampled kit: hold down shift when you drag a sample to a pad to add it as a layer (up to 8 layers per pad).

I'm not sure what you mean by "talking about other apps with no knowledge" I can safely assure you I have quite a bit of knowledge about hosts and still think reaper (for now) is "A#1"

It's true, I'm/we are trying to take notes for S1 but I really don't understand why you'd think that.

Many users avoid reading the manual and then complain certain features arent implemented. And of course they all claim to be advanced users.
