Also, does the VST3 version work correctly?
Just to confirm, VST2 broken, AU working?
I'm about to mail Presonus.
Cheers,
Dave.

I'll probably try and build in a lower cpu-usage oversampling mode for an update in the not too distant.ttoz wrote:Ahh oversampling is what instantly takes it to 45%
is it 8x oversample or something?
very very advanced maybe too much for me but i really like upward expansion/compression ability
Basically, you'd use the oversampling mode for your rendering, or for mastering.
Can I get the info about Studio One pls?
VST2 broken, AU working, VST3=?
Dave.

wow... what a beast!
this will keep me busy for weeks now to find out what all those parameters do >.<
Really love it so far.
There are IMO some negative things too though:
- The mods system seems confusing to me. Just clicked through the presets and checked how the saving process works. It's IMO a big disadvantage that you don't get the information which Parameters were changed by loading a mod. Or even better before loading a mod. I think I get the idea of this system but it's somewhat unpredictable in it's current state.
- The waveform graph is way too fast imo. Can't get any useful information out of it with this behaviour... maybe I'm too old
- Some knobs have strange value/position relations. For example, the attack and release knobs use ~20% of the available positions for 0ms-0.01ms or "Ratio" uses ~25% of the available knob positions for 1:1-1.1:1 ... Makes no sense IMO.
- The UI/Fonts are too small on 24" Monitors (yeah me again
). Especially the GR-meter should be clearer/bigger.
- CPU usage with oversampling is quite high (~15% on a core2duo). Would be cool to have an "Oversample on rendering only" option.
Cheers,
Doc

I've tried to keep it fairly straightforward. The Character mods change the lower half settings. The Compression Styles mods change the major controls. The Utils ones... well, they're more of a mixed bag. There are IMO some negative things too though:

Over the next week, you'll find (have you hit "Save Mod" yet?
Watch that turn into a pref- The waveform graph is way too fast imo. Can't get any useful information out of it with this behaviour... maybe I'm too old
Half speed do it?
I understand the concern; this problem arises from the fact that we have unusually wide ranges.- Some knobs have strange value/position relations. For example, the attack and release knobs use ~20% of the available positions for 0ms-0.01ms or "Ratio" uses ~25% of the available knob positions for 1:1-1.1:1 ... Makes no sense IMO.
No one law will be perfect for all types of task. What we have is what we determined to be the best compromise; giving you fine control when you need it (with low thresholds, low ratios like 1.01:1 are crucial!), but still access to the full range. Likewise with the attacks... you'll stumble onto unusual situations where very low attack/release times do things that are, well, magical.
We've enlarged all the major values by 20% on EQuality. We'd lose resolution on the meters to enlarge it, and that would be a bad thing, so again it's a compromise, but one we have considered carefully.- The UI/Fonts are too small on 24" Monitors (yeah me again). Especially the GR-meter should be clearer/bigger.
If you right-click (or double-click) the meter, you'll get a zoom mode. This may help?
Working on this one. Sadly didn't make it in for release, but yes, this is coming.- CPU usage with oversampling is quite high (~15% on a core2duo). Would be cool to have an "Oversample on rendering only" option.
Cheers,
Dave.

well Dave,
congrats, my friend, because you did it again!!!!!!!
just like Equality killed all other eq's i used, Compassion just killed all other compressors i used.
whether smacking drums like no tomorrow, to giving that amazing 'glue' to complete mixes/masters....
and then some......
i can't help but wonder...what the hell is he gonna cook up next?
cheers!

I think I remove all of my 100 compressors and buy "Compassion"
It fills the gap between all this vintage emulation stuff from others and a excellent dynamic and sound manipulation tool
Btw. VST3 works perfectly. A suggestion would be a gain knob or a slider for the sidechain level. I've seen this with Pro-C from Fabfilter and found it very usable because it gives a better control. This could be placed at the bottom of the sidechain button.
