stick with 'charlatan'! it makes everyone a bit
uncomfortable. :D

i would suggest just muting the red a touch, and
using a bit of transparency on the white to blend
it a bit. add presets, and then go make another one.
(edit:wur, soz, haven't checked recent versions)

I think Charlatan is a fine name. It's witty ... I like the red too. :tu:

I have great respect if someone can program something and not work with Synthedit.

I think it fits the personality of the synth quite well. Unless someone convinces me that it's totally inappropriate, the new name will come into effect with the next release. Thread title will be changed accordingly.
I thought we'd all agreed it was going to be called The Cockney Weasel

black & decker :p it's been used to great effect for more than one gui..

i like 'berzerk' - it could use a robot on it though :) 'charlatan' didn't seem an astute choice for an aspiring developer's first product :hihi: :)

really excited for just a simple adjustable bg color. the gui really is nice and clean. far better than anything anyone else has posted (no offense guys). i think the name should stay the same too. part of the reason i think this synth is so good right off the hop is because you've made it primarily for yourself it seems, and you should stick to your guns for the most part. i've really enjoyed using this synth so far and will definitely keep an eye on it as it comes round to a final release. thank you again for sharing with us.

You can also spell it with a "Z" i.e, "Berzerk", which sounds pretty good i think.

Charlatan has something more intruiging about it though, and the name caught my interest in a way Berserk/Berzerk probably wouldn't.

All this debate and conjecture, i'm sure it's why some developers prefer to keep quiet until release day

How about Berzerker?

+1. The name Charlatan and the red, clear GUI is fine! I would put all effort in polishing the sound and features of the synth.

I also like the description the developer made about why he choose the name Charlatan.
(karrikuh wrote: Well, when I chose the name I considered a "charlatan" as just a person who pretends to be someone (s)he isn't (hint to virtual analog).)

Orange on Gray is one of my favorite color combinations (See BONES' XTRO skin for Orion). It screams "Industrial" and "This is a Tool" to me yet is surprisingly easy on the eyes for long periods and functional as well.........
