@Compyfox: I hear that. In some situations, the best you can do is to settle for breaking even (except the aggro). Not very satisfying. But if I had sunk money in this I'd be relieved just to see it back. "Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick," as we painfully folksy types say.

Well the point is still, that this particular firm has a certain history with users. And if stuff boils up, there comes an apology and suddenly everything is all right.
Like I said... people are getting temp/permanent banned over more stupid things. But this fish literraly reeks, yet... nothing happens. Only that this firm get's a nice promo boost in terms of "remember me? yeah I have stuff to sell".
Just my 2c on this one.

"nothing happens" -- What exactly (or in general; no point in my being picky) do you think I, Ben, or other mods should do? I'm not being a smartarse, I'm open to reasonable suggestions. Might or might not act on them but at least I'll listen.
A ban? If/when Crysonics' KVR account gets banned, that means they won't be able to post here -- for good AND bad. If they'd not started making refunds where demanded, a ban looked increasingly likely to happen. Long as they really are making good on their most recent promise I think that would be a mistake.
Given my choice I'd rather not ban anyone but spammers. Wish like hell that would happen but my wishing doesn't much affect what people do.

I hate that it came to this because I have some of their plugs, use them and think they sound great. Now I seriously doubt that I will ever want to do business with them again.
It is also an interesting coincidence that refunds began shortly after I wrote them about filing a complaint with the CBS in Adelaide. We don't understand here in the States how seriously consumer protection works in a lot of other countries. Personally I think that this would still be going on if PayPal and the CBS we not starting to take a look at their operation. So if you have not heard back from Crysonic take the time and make the complaints, and tell them via e-mail that you are doing so.
Finally- this is what I have learned....
NEVER! EVER! EVER pre-order software.

I read this whole thread last night, and it is an interesting query: what to do about a company like Crysonic?
I don't think it's fair to imply "complicity" with KVR, and I really see Meffy's point(s) about how there isn't very much he can do, apart from banning them, which excludes the possibility of them ever communicating on this forum, which isn't much (they're doing OK with that on their own!).
Personally, I urge everyone who was in this pre-order to contact PayPal. Seems like the best idea and the only thing that's gotten them off their asses. I mean, even though they seem to be responding now, that's still 4 months with no product delivery or communication? That alone deserves retribution.

It's not just "banning", which would cut the communication (then again, there wasn't much except for promo material and calling names), it's also about (re)presenting a firm.
I understand your point, Meffy. But look at the history of that firm, think back of what happened up until this point.
I remember pages in the samples subsection that are erased/locked/moderated that lead to sample providers that were not legit. Other firm warnings are also blocked and/or locked fairly quick. Yet in terms of Crysonic: we talk about it, we discuss(!) about it what to do, then comes the "firm apology" after the "hate thread" got bumped a bit, and the next step is love, peace and harmony all over again. Back to the beginning.
I... I just don't get it.

Well, has the forum ever "kicked out" a company? What have the sketchy ones been? Superwave? KeyToSound/Koblo? I think they just got a (deserved) bad name, collapsed and faded away. If it's KVR's policy to not get involved beyond banning accounts, then so be it. It's up to us to warn each other and report them to the authorities, which I think would be far more impacting than anything Ben or Meffy can do.
But I agree, we have to stop letting them off the hook when they give us things. I mean, 4 or 5 freakin' months - plus complaining to Paypal - to get this amazing v4 update?? That's wrong, whether you get a refund or not. I can only exhort everyone wronged to contact PayPal and send evidence to Meffy, and he can at least take it to Crysonic.

Banning is too harsh. However, they should add a dictionary entry to replace all occurrences of "Crysonic" with "
-sonic", while leaving one representative and lengthy thread unmolested and stickied in the Effects Forum for future Google searchers.

i bought Spectraphy LE (OSX) in 2007... was tempted by the subsequent emails to buy everything from him as the proposed updates that were just a week or two away were all supposed to have OSX versions. but i didn't want to buy something that i couldn't test. and sure enough none of the plugs available in '07 have been ported to OSX except Spectralive
i've used Spectraphy LE repeatedly since and in 2009 i couldn't hold out much longer and went for it... bought the whole thing (CryEverything) for 70 something $... no reply, nothing. sent him 3-4 emails. made a refund claim with paypal on the last day possible. and on the last day of that paypal claim he sent everything to my email and told paypal everything was delivered. i put my foot down and said i'd rather get the refund which i did...
i later tried to authorize one of the plugs and he sent me the authorize code within 24 hours...
last year (november) i got one of the emails and guess what... i paid him 20 something $ for the CryEverything bundle.
i'm fully aware of his tactics and have read ALL the Crysonic threads. i just felt sorry for the guy and wanted to contribute to a nice christmas @ the Topcu household.
i didn't even bother to install them until yesterday. sent him the codes and got the response today.
what i gather from this thread is that ppl are upset about the broken promise of a pre-paid plug which has not been delivered. understandable... i'd never cough up dough for something that i couldn't test, period
instead of shouting for the expulsion of a rather twisted dev (they r strange and love 2 promise magnificence) i cry for those that have vanished on their own...

I'm kind of surprised you bought again after the 2009 debacle!hunkofaman wrote:i bought Spectraphy LE (OSX) in 2007... was tempted by the subsequent emails to buy everything from him as the proposed updates that were just a week or two away were all supposed to have OSX versions. but i didn't want to buy something that i couldn't test. and sure enough none of the plugs available in '07 have been ported to OSX except Spectralive

23$ is not a lot for me but it might make a difference in Australia
and i'm in the business of making music for profit... so if i use a Crysonic in a track i'll have made my money back

I think they're "in Canada" in the same way that gambling sites are "in the Bahamas"....but if they're anywhere near Vancouver, I'll personally go over and clobber 'em!ttoz wrote:i noticed my mega crysonic thread has disappeared from existence which was the one that really had a lot of info as to why they were so bad.
But their "apology" thread still remains. Oh well.
anyway, no matter what, i will make it simple. do not believe a single word this developer says, and do not give them any of your money, ever.
the warnings have been given multiple times. I am glad they are out of australia as i was ashamed. But I am sorry for Canada now

I'm getting more and more convinced that this lot are up to no good. Check the reply I got....
Hi,
Forget about some of the ridiculous posts on KVR, there are a few X customers that are prolifix complainers and they just exacerbate things. We have been in business for a long time and will provide the products soon, there were just a few unforseen events in this case which added to the delay which were beyond our control. Everyone here will be here at work this week ( This is the worst time:) ) and we should have the product available for download soon.
Regards,
James
Crysonic
Hardly a professional response and James would most certainly benefit from a course in English.
Also, it may be completely unrelated but I'm getting junk mail from a so called commonwealth bank of australia all of the sudden.

And just to be clear, I requested a refund but that reply obviously side tracked my request. I replied saying I'll give you a week, but that has long gone. Get rid of these jokers please
