I and Aiynzahev shared presets in previous pages in this thread and V'ger confirmed that it's okay to use those. So I would say your assumption is correct. Now please go and make more tracks

Checked these out last night. Excellent presets. Thanks for sharing.jasinski wrote:For anyone interested in some custom presets, here you go.
I made these while working on the contest track.
If you try them out I'd love to know what you think!

I believe any preset is ok to use if it is from a free set. Not sure V'ger's ruling on commercial sets. As the presets I posted are free of charge, I assume you can use them in the contest. (I am)angelremington wrote:jasinskiI just quickly went throught your presets... there's few good ones... easpecially the drum sounds, I like the hi hats snare 2 the crash is better than mine definitely
I assume it is ok to use third party free presets for the contest? Those in the know / organizer please confirm.
I'll put another quick track together using your drum sounds, hopefully i'll get a bit more energy in.
Thanks again

Yes sharing presets is of course Ok and a nice sporting gesture in a competition.
Commercial presets are more iffy, but not against any rule per se.
And nice trick using the uTonic demo to see how good drum sounds are made Supernoise, one for the books if it works, will check later.

I've actually started a few tracks this month. Dune is such a fun synth that it just kind of happened. So here's the first that is more or less ready.

Am I missing something or is the 'group' still only showing last months MiniV tracks?

This should be the KVR OSC 43 group: http://soundcloud.com/groups/kvr-one-synth-challengejasinski wrote:I've actually started a few tracks this month. Dune is such a fun synth that it just kind of happened. So here's the first that is more or less ready.

There are two KVR OSC groups, one for the current challenge (42), one for the upcoming one (43), maybe you are referring to the current, not to the upcoming.

The guitar is sounding so real. But I wonder if the cabinet and amp simulation is according the rules? It is changing the sound of the instrument a lot!
I am interessted in this issue, becuase my track would also need some crunch!

Yeah, i wasn't sure abou that either- well this was more of a "fun" experiment so if it's disqualified then I'm ok with it. The amp/cab is adding a bit of crunch but the character of the guitar sounds is pretty much intact. I put them in the presets I posted earlier so you can compare if you likephotonic wrote:Amazing sounds!jasinski wrote:I've actually started a few tracks this month. I've re - uploaded my last two as they were pretty flat and no volume, i just couldn'tr get any volume out of Reaper and kept going in the red and still no volume and energy, i figured out how to use the compressor and activate the limiter but still not much better, i finally located a free limiter "Limiter No.6" by Vladislav Gunchev and used the first mastering preset on it and lifted up the volume a fair but... perhaps it is too much now... squashed the living daylights out of it LOL... OK at least for the next track will have more experience, I'll use some new drum sounds and other patches from some of you guys... so shell see, and yes
I'll check out properly your tracks too, I am home all weekend so will do some good
thx all
P.S. Until I find my way around Reaper and the wonderful world of VSTi's etc if someone is interested to have a go @ my tracks / work together / fix them up a bit etc... let me know, since the rules say collaboration is allowed.
I am wondering if it is allowed to finish of the track in a different software than the host where all the work was done... like i couldn't quite get it right in reaper... to import the finished track in Reason 6 or other and do the final tweak and mastering and bring it up a bit?
