last month they had big sale on Mpressor, so I picked it up.

after some tweaking with the gain reduction limit, and the negative ratio I realized that my drums were just in your face, but no louder on the metering.

i've yet to experience this with any other plugin.

here is a copy of the preset if you care to try it out, just tweak the threshold to match your own material.

Ok, the more I play with this stuff, the more I realize I know shit.

Is it my imagination or can you put this thing on the master and and get just a tad of "omph" while taming peaks? If so, that's worth the price of admission right there!

Post

you can totally do that. It's crazy.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. On more electronic stuff that doesn't seem to work (obvious distortion)

Wow Mpressor at $89. A steal. Imo all their stuff is top drawer. For me nothing stays unless it has some real character, and all of their stuff does.

The Mpressor is great for harmonic distortion as well, if you input a very low level signal and then raise the out-gain you will get a little to a lot of distortion. Very handy for a "bigger" sound. I am sure Vertigo is this way too, it sounds like it to me.

Indeed. Hibidy, try hitting the unit with way less, then compensate with the threshold to get your desired amount of gain reduction. This plugin can get quite "dirty" if want it to, even without any compression.

It's very strange. On most of my stuff, it's just sick. Pretty much in the bag, but on this one thing I started yesterday it has a "hit" where I want the low end to rumble and even with nothing and just as a subtle "limiter" it distorts. Take it off, "boooooooommmmmmmmmm" just like it's supposed to.

On virtually everything else, it's disgustingly good and doesn't have that issue. *sigh* Anyways, yeah, good tip bmanic!

So this is the second "instant gratification" in this series of deals. I didn't really want another freakin' comp  BUT, it's not just a comp. The eq is just wonderful to juuuuuuust add a little bit of flavor. Since I've got through tomorrow to test I'll sleep on it, but pretty sure this is going to be a terrific addition, especially with all the drums I'm doing these days!

So, yeah, "promising" I'll not buy anything is futile. I really wonder if something as inexpensive as "boom" would go on sale. I think that would really help my kick fetish :hyper:

Don't forget - the [tilt] eq is free if that's the piece you like:

It's in the Alpha too. But there might be some other mojo going on you're diggin'
