I'd say it's the contrary. More and more people have access to cheap music software. The audio industry is surprisingly large with a massive "hobbyist" user base and it's growing all the time.johnnyvn wrote:Current deep discounts on Lexicon. Current deep discounts on Waves software. Are Kracks killing the industry?
Are the software developers trying to fight piracy with lower (and lower) prices?
Anyone have thoughts about what's happening out there?
I mean, I love the lower (and lower) prices, but I hope this isn't pointing to major difficulties that software developers are having with kracks and piracy. That would totally suck.
I know that one of Lexicon's main software programmers left early this year...is this due to the challenging nature of that industry?
A lot of my younger cousins and various friends have gotten into music making as a hobby after messing around with garage band or something similar. Now they are all getting into plugins as well. I think this is awesome!
If you have a good product and an attractive price, giving the user a sense of "good value for money" then you will do well (and have reasonable demos and non-restrictive DRM).
We are seeing the same thing on other computer software fronts as well.. like games. Prices have been coming down lately by quite a margin, or at least there are way more sales.
Cheers!
