... Oh crud, there goes my track I think... :hihi:

I don't think kond and I were tying to offend anyone... sorry if you took us that way. We were just making a bit of humor at how difficult it is to grade, thus agreeing with you.

I always listen to the song, but sometimes before that I do a quick skim in crappier headphones just because I'm giddy like a child to check it out - then replay later.

Voted! (Using the 5-4-3-2-1 system, of course.)

Lots of great tracks this month, very hard to narrow it to 5. Feel free to PM me if anyone wants constructive criticism on your track. As Irion always says: Have a good day! :)

Narrowed down to 6.

Great tracks this month. And too many...

Voting in a few hours when i put these 5 in order and my honorable mention track.

Have a nice day :)

This was difficult. It was a real pleasure to listen to all of the tracks, and very hard to decide which to vote for.

It was really interesting to hear how versatile this synth is when put in creative hands, and I give a lot of credit to those producers who were able to coax out great snares and hi hats and really warm pads.

This is my first time in OSC, I think this competition is fantastic -- I would never have dug so deep into Podolski and I'm sure I'll end up using it more in my work now.

Hi,

In one of the comments in my last track on SC, ToneDeF asked me to upload the presets. I know that this was allready dicussed here. But I cannot see where to upload. Is there a defined webspace, or should everyone use his own solution?

Thanx

z.prime wrote:I, for one, listen to each and every track in entirety - I think it's only fair. I'd like for people to listen to my track from start to finish (how could you not, because they're so awesome ;)), so I do the same. I believe people earn that for taking the time to create something in the OSC, no matter if I don't particularly like the style or other aspects of a track.

And I definitely agree with what's already been said: many times you'll find nuggets or awesome aspects beyond the first 30 seconds - arguably the worst representative timeframe of any song...
A nugget is not going to win my vote. I have to like the track ALL the way through, so,unless there aren't five tracks that meet that criteria, if I don't like some middle 20 seconds, listening to the entire track won't affect my vote.

FWIW, I always just click randomly in the middle of the song, again, this is how I buy records, statistically, it works quite well. In the past I've listened to the entire track, but, what I've found is that there's usually so much difference between my favorites and the bottom third, that it just doesn't matter. A quick listen is all that I need to narrow the field.

What I do, in fact, is to click listen to a few seconds, click elsewhere, etc. If something grabs my attention, I listen a little longer. Then, a final click in the middle for that longer listen. This tells you a lot quickly: Is it similar all the way through, does any part of it grab me, is the production consistent, etc.

To be clear, when I say the bottom third, I mean the ones that "I" like least. I do not mean to imply, in any way, that my vote conveys anything more than just my subjective opinion. I'm sure that nobody thinks so, but I don't want to offend anyone. I'm looking for what "I" find interesting.

There's the tab next to the synth here on KVR http://www.kvraudio.com/product/podolsk ... /downloads

But u-he also has the nice Patch Library where you can ask to put it up: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=180090

As I am not allowed to vote yet, here's my top 5, in no particular order!(just for kicks)
And kicks I got seeing Black Hole Gold in your top five! I didn't expect such a thing happening to this little down-tempo doomie. Thanks, wakkadude.

You might be right about some reverb here and there, but I had to be true to my very own personal rules for fun addition of no reverb and automation. 8)

Looking forward to your submission on Feldspar challenge.

Hi all together,
*** voted ***

Really confused about the voting form (i voted like z.prime in the manner 5-4-3-2-1 Points)

I will be ask to give the patches to the community, so here is Rotation 13:

- for Fruity-User the flp-project (remember my fx i use, please have a look in the track description on SC)
-> http://www.file-upload.net/download-769 ... 3.flp.html

- the track as mp3-stems (sorry for the low loudness ...)
-> http://www.file-upload.net/download-769 ... ms.7z.html

- the used patches in h2p-Format and as a big thanks
- a extra of 25 selected patches from me for Podolski
-> http://www.kvraudio.com/product/podolsk ... /downloads

I hope you like it, have fun and enjoy the stuff. If you make a track with the sounds i am happy if you tell it to me ;)

Thx for all of your great music and have a great weekend :)

Thank you! Done.
I made a ZIP-file and add comments to all sounds. You can download them now here:

65 tracks... that's probably like 4 or 5 competitions worth of entries. I somehow came up with a "short list" of 23 entries, and that could have easily been as high as 35. So many tracks I would have voted for -- and for different reasons (e.g. best mixing/mastering; best composition in the genre of xyz; best sound design; best newcomer; best veteran; etc.). In the end, I voted subjectively and somehow managed to narrow it down to the five tracks that resonated the most with me today.

For the challenge, I used mostly stock patches, but the two custom patches that I actually did program for Podolski, I uploaded to the KVR patches area: http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=1886

It would have been nice if there were a way to release all the contributions as one big compilation with a link to the file archive (much like the way the track submissions get archived after the contest). Thank you to everyone who has shared, or plans to share, their custom Podolski presets with the community.

I had a blast participating in this challenge, but now I need to rest and recuperate and hopefully be ready to participate in another OSC.

Oh, crud! I goofed! :dog:

To the voting form moderator: please delete my earlier voting form entry. My later voting form entry correctly distributes the points the way I intended. So sorry for screwing that up!

[I accidentally voted the first time by specifying the order I had ranked the tracks, instead of by specifying the number of points to award to each track. Of course, the third ranked choice was exactly the same as the choice that I intended to give three points to -- such is the case when there are five entries (or any odd number of entries for that matter).]
