Can confirm that. Bought SDRR just because its Klanghelm and DC8C and only 22,-€, not because of IVGI, and was pleasantly surprised. This is really a fun plugin with loads of possibilities, tweaker's heaven. Takes some time to get to know it, though, as DC8C it is more a complete toolbox than just a hammer.analoguesamples909 wrote:I wasnt big into IVGI much either - but this is so much more - so versatile and styles not in IVGI...heffus wrote:I don't really care for IVGI much. Any chance I'll like this.

For me, once somehting like this is anvoption rather than mandatory it becomes another tool to be creative.bbaggins wrote:All grumbling and nit-picking aside, can somebody explain the fascination with crosstalk in the first place? I get that it's part of the sound of (some) old gear, but engineers would have gladly done away with it back in the day if they could (and in high-end consoles they pretty much did).
As an example some producers simply want to make bits of music sound sampled, so this coupled with other hardware emus can get us there.

Bought as well. What a great plugin!
I used it on the master of my latest track.

am i the only one with sound blowup issues? (vst version, reaper, OSX)
when i use the desk mode in reaper and copy the SDRR instance to another channel, the sound cracks and goes away.
to reproduce (in reaper):
create a track.
load SDRR into it.
switch SDRR to desk mode.
add another track.
copy SDRR to the new track.
now mixer shows +3.5 db here, sound is gone.
seems to be a nice tool otherwise
cheers!

I had some strange crackin sounds yesterday when I had SDRR desk mode on Sonar's (X1) master bus. They weren't super loud, but noticeable. Like some vinylizer plugin's modeled dust.dasdeck wrote:am i the only one with sound blowup issues? (vst version, reaper, OSX)

Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

Are you sure this isn't Reaper's auto mute function? If you drag SDRR over to a new track with audio that's already near 0db, and the plugin pushes it past clipping, Reaper will auto mute the track. All you have to do is lower the output and un mute.dasdeck wrote:am i the only one with sound blowup issues? (vst version, reaper, OSX)

Sorry if you know this already, just wanted to point that out in case you weren't aware of this function.

it would not be activated at +3.5 db anyways, also it happens with no signal at all.
seems to me like an unblocked DC offset or an envelope follower fading out. (from my humble hobby developer perspective that is).
cheers!

will check this. Seems, that it's only happening with the DESK mode, and only when copying an instance to another track? I've heard, that this also happens in Logic. So I guess, it's a general problem within the DESK mode. I'll get into this as soon as possible.Eleventh wrote:I also managed to kill it in Reaper yesterday. Can't remember the exact reproduction steps, will report back later.
Very nice plug btw!

Hey Tony !Endor-8o8 wrote:I noticed a bug with the display of "Dual Mono" on the VU meter, when you choose it it doesn't display correctly . I saw it in Reaper (latest 64bit version) and Ableton Live 8 (64bit), I'm on Windows 7 64bit.
Did you noticed that problem too ?

I agree, in general it's a flaw and narrows the stereo image. But I've tried to make crosstalk a desireable feature in SDRR and not a flaw. Heck, you can even use the crosstalk in DUAL MONO configuration, even if that makes no sense, technically.bbaggins wrote:All grumbling and nit-picking aside, can somebody explain the fascination with crosstalk in the first place? The reason for this is, that when you are using high drive and drift settings the signals get widened but OTOH lose a bit of focus. With crosstalk enabled you get that focus back to the middle of the stereo image without sacrificing the gained width. When you set the crosstalk to its highest setting, the crosstalk signals are goining through another saturator, adding another layer of complexity to the sound.

This is just a minor bug, not affecting the plug-in or causing any crash.tonhelm wrote:Not yet, but will check that too.Endor-8o8 wrote:Hey Tony !Endor-8o8 wrote:I noticed a bug with the display of "Dual Mono" on the VU meter, when you choose it it doesn't display correctly . Kudos Tony.
That's exactly what I am expecting from a developer. Out of the box thinking. Funny because I thought about that "oldschool hardware flaws" vs "inspired by and take the concept even further" thingy the last years a lot.
Engineers tried to get rid of them for decades and now with all those perfect digital units people want it back. I think you mentioned something similar in the interview with bootsy that it should not be the only task to emulate all this but improve the whole thingy and make it somehow desireable.
Regards
Sebastian

Just out of interest did you ever consider group crosstalk Tony ?
So you could set a group on each loaded instance of the plugin and it would crosstalk with other instances within that group ?
Duh
