BUT i AM ENTITLED TO HAVE AVAILABLE WHAT I PAID FOR. See? Your logic is unjustified. Especially because it was removed without prior notice, and even before the "upgrade" was available. Forced to upgrade? Of course I am not. And I will not, no matter what. Regarding the hours spent... It's up to him. That's why it is HIS business. If he decides to spend 1000 hours developing something that users decide they don't want, who is responsible for the decision? He decided to went that way. It's his call. I simply don't value that, so I don't care.e-modic wrote:Cosmetically changes as you say mean days/month of developing. What´s your rate for an hour of work, 30,--? Again dude, you are not forced to upgrade. He just removed older versions while there is a KVR news log for all changes. I didn´t read all myself but I have a backup and stay on 6.2 at the moment without having dark clouds on me because of DiscoDSP. What´s your point? You have none. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO UPGRADE.fmr wrote:
Now, he made some cosmetic changes to Discovery pro, and decided to charge for it. It's OK with me, I can very well keep what I already have, and simply carry on, ignoring the so called "upgrade". But trying to force that on us by removing the older (perfectly usable) version is something outrageously and ostensibly cynical on his attempt to force users to "upgrade". There is other way to qualify it.

You make a Developer responsible for a non existing cloud service! Because YOU can´t handle your backups. Just do the clicks and we wouldn´t have this conversation because then you would make music here and now with your "old" version of D.Pro.fmr wrote: BUT i AM ENTITLED TO HAVE AVAILABLE WHAT I PAID FOR. You will value. One day. He just does his business as a one man show, not Big IT behind him. Added zdff when people needed it and tons of other things. Did free updates. Added small - as you say - cosmetically updates. Menino, just be fair. Just tell me one thing before you are angry again, did you have a Nord Lead 2?
Induljon a banzáj!

He has ALWAYS written "Downloads are limited. Remember to backup your files, thanks." Since the beginning! And it is CLEARLY visible on ALL the customers accounts!fmr wrote:So, if he struggles with so many difficulties, why did he spread his efforts to the iOS world? He should concentrate in what he already have, instead of trying something which will dobutfully payoff. Besides, nothing of what you said justifies to rewove the old versions. Quite the opposite - removing old versions is an extra task that's unnecessary and unjustified.BlackWinny wrote:You're all very unfair with George. DiscoDSP is mainly one man, and with very weak means, and for all the questions related to the sales and the relations which are not concerning technical aspects, he uses the services of a third party. And it's not difficult to guess that it is not free, third party services are necessarily thing one must must pay for that. And we can guess that it is not cheap, especially when it is impossible to do without when having too few personal means to be able to do it oneself.
IK, Izotope, etc. all these other brands (yes, it is real brands, not small developers) you've cited are not the same kind of developers at all, they are quite big companies. With a lot of money, with all internal services, with operators, delegated persons for the relations, complexly structured websites, many developers organized in teams... and many products in their catalogs.
George, him, he lives with mainly four or five products, that's all. He develops these products himself and with two or three other persons, that's all.
It is not hard to understand that it is because his place for his network is limited.
Is it his fault if despite his permanent advice about that, the users don't seem to understand that thing although so simple?
And is it so difficult to backup carefully oneself our downloaded installation files !?
You are all accusing him to things that you could extremely easily do yourselves! Once again I do not complain if a developer must by obligation be thrifty in his network size and precisely advice in permanence his customers that it is a good thing to make personal backups!
Nowadays we ALL have here or there some external hard disks if not personal NAS and all kinds of clouds ! Are we again today at years where we have not enough place on our computers ? Especially when besides we purchase plugins which cost a fortune? Is the cost of the Megabyte so expensive today that we can't backup ourselves?

This is silly, if people knew he was going to remove the downloads then of course everyone would have made backups, the problem is he's moved the goalposts without telling anyone. It is almost invariably the case that when you buy a product the installers are on the developers site in the user area, that is why user areas exist and we even have many emails saying to find our products in the DisciDSP user area. If George now means to do things differently and not have a user area for downloadable products that is his choice, but he needs to let people know that in advance.e-modic wrote:

People love to molest waves about WUP , but at least , even if you don't have a valid WUP , you can update your plugin and got a mail when the wup is over...This is my point of view and i don't want to fight with someone but i just don't find fair the way Discodsp is going.

This is not limited downloads, this is no downloads. User areas with limited downloads show you how many downloads you have left and make it clear when you are close to your limit.BlackWinny wrote: He has ALWAYS written "Downloads are limited. No he did not. That is not informing people that there will be no more downloads, it is warning them to make backups, that is good practice but it doesn't tell anyone that there will be no downloads available next time they return. In fact the emails he sends out always tell people their products will be in the members area. That is not true any more.BlackWinny wrote:He did!aMUSEd wrote:This is silly, if people knew he was going to remove the downloads then of course everyone would have made backups, the problem is he's moved the goalposts without telling anyone. Man you get me bored, you are telling "if people knew..." . We don´t know nothing about anyone. People should always do backups. There is a mail there is a file. I repeat myself, there is no guarantee of a life long cloud service!aMUSEd wrote:This is silly, if people knew he was going to remove the downloads then of course everyone would have made backups...e-modic wrote:

Yes doing backups is good practice, so what? That has nothing to do with the fact that people expected the products they paid for to be in the members area and now they are not, and done very sneakily to get people to pay for an update that wasn't even announced. The point here is not whether anyone has a backup but that downloads have been removed without people being informed in advance.e-modic wrote:Man you get me bored, you are telling "if people knew..." . You see, I do not expect that. I would be a little dumb if I do, dude I paid a lot of money for my product. I paid about 148 Euro I think. This in the hand of others? Hell no! f**k a members area. I want to be in charge of my product I worked a day off.aMUSEd wrote:
