So what did you actually buy this Black Friday?

I got a Black Friday discount on hotel reservations. Also some donuts and yogurt.

Waves Gold 80+% off + free UVI piano (that I already had in a bundle)
HoRNet Graffio 70% off
Kuassa Kratos Maximizer 70% off
Waves Factory TrackSpacer 50% off
Boz Digital T-Bone 40% off
u-he More Feedback Machine - $25 survey coupon -> 30+% off
Sound Toys EchoBoy 20% off
Gold was unplanned, but what a price! Will be super useful. Will sell some overlapping singles at some point before their WUP is gone; bet that's true for a lot of people. (The custom upgrade prices I found gave me about $9 for the 10 plugs I already had, better to buy it outright.)
EchoBoy wasn't that great a deal, but I've wanted it forever, it's never on sale, and sells in 2 ms second hand, so I jumped, even though I'm going to wait for dongle-less v5 to actually install it.
MFM was a side effect of thinking about EchoBoy, and of having that coupon in hand. $54 for all it does -- no problem, since I'd already murdered the impulse control squad in their sleep.
T-Bone I'd been looking at, and TrackSpacer was a new-to-me side effect of thinking about T-Bone; decent prices so I went for both.
Graffio and Maximizer I'd been looking at, they were so heavily discounted and not a lot of money, just did it.
I'm broke, and shut off for A Good While now, but happy about it all.

Nothing. I have made a resolute effort to buy nothing on the Friday after Thanksgiving since the early 1990s.
To be fair, nothing on my wish list was available at any particular discount. Where's my $200 Focusrite Scarlett 18i12? Where's my $25.00 SM-58? Where's my buy-one-get-one-free 16GB DDR3 RAM?
There's not much that would persuade me to go to an overcrowded store in the first place.
But there's another aspect of the whole "Black Friday" thing -- the term originated as a cynical marketing expression -- not something that you would actually expose to a customer. It's insulting at a particular level. It's suggesting to me (the consumer) that I bear some sort of responsibility for creating a market for goods that yields a positive bottom line in the fourth quarter, across the retail sector. It's really insulting, especially if you understand a little bit about how retail marketing works.
The orders for the stuff that they pretend to be selling "at a loss" were made around June with the express purpose of giving that pretense. Those products are usually not even SKUs that ever get sold at full price to begin with.
There's also the aspect of the marketing that's calculated to appeal to our desire for some kind of blood sport. There really is nothing that would get me anywhere near a shopping center, and that particular marketing gambit firmly ensures that I will not take part.

Well done to you who did not spend anything
There will be a full stop to purchasing new tools now until I have mastered the ones I have.
Oh, and apropos to another thread here at kvr I got a Plasma Ball to go with my lava lamp.
These are the real secret mixing tools, just look at pictures of any high end studio for the proof
- Flux pure analyzer essential
The price was finally right and I found you can even script it using Python. - UVI/Acousticsamples IRCAM Prepared Piano
Been on my wish list for ages - Acousticsamples Telematic
Already have the Sunbird, but don't have any good electric guitars. - Acousticsamples Bass Collection
Eh, for the Upright but the bundle was just a little bit more :/ - Lexicon PCM Effects Bundle
just for the lovely SpringBox - McDSP Futzbox
I also have Speakerphone which is better, but too comprehensive/CPU hog to just quickly
tweak when recording. - Analogue Drums: Pizazz, FatStacks, Smoker, Monotown, Kingpin, Boxer, Big Mono
Amazing drum kits, but my favorites in the end are Pizazz, FatStacks and Boxer.

Tried to be good, so apart from Molekular, several 'little' purchases at very good prices.
- NI Molekular
- Glitch Machines Quadrant
- Unfiltered Audio G8
- Patchpool - Diversity 2, DNA, No Boundaries & Evil Things
- Hollow Sun - H1 & Hexxon
- K-Devices - EXT, TED & Kfluxin
Was so very tempted by Soundtoys but resisted it for yet another year.
(Un)fortunately, I see several things happening in the very near future that I know will cause GAS problems - maybe a sale on Kaivo, U-He Hive, Squareheads Nora 2, Loomer's Numerology alternative and, hopefully, Iris 2 will be fixed. I can hopefully resist all bar Hive ($25 coupon!) & Iris 2 (upgrade), but it will be hard.

OK here (OS X 10.8.5, Live 9.1.6). Hope you fix it.thecontrolcentre wrote:Me too ... but can't get TED to install properly. It reports "Not fully installed" each time I've run it. The presets don't get installed, and when I load TED, Live crashes. Will drop K-Devices an email.lnikj wrote: - K-Devices - EXT, TED & Kfluxin

XP SP3, Live 9.1.6 here ... have had issues with REF crashing Live too. Hope K-Devices can sort it for me.lnikj wrote:OK here (OS X 10.8.5, Live 9.1.6). If you bought something simply because it was a good deal, and not because you will use it. Then, yes, it is madness.lectrixboogaloo wrote:Bought bitwig cause guitar center guy said he could give it to me for $168. Have no idea why i did that... didn't even want it. such is the madness?
Nice price IF you were interested in it though.
