Limeflavour is indeed one of the best. Would be cool if he would do a skin.

Seriously after all these years of people complaining about Poly-Ana's GUI these examples aren't helping. I don't think anybody ever asked "Oooh make Poly-Ana look like someone's first Synth Edit project from a decade ago".Numanoid wrote:What's it to you anywayTeksonik wrote:Could you actually use that skin for more than two minutes without getting a headache ?Even if you can't, somebody could. The colours are very eye popping ain't they?
I would not be crabby if it was the colour of, say, virus.

I was thinking exactly the same. I think the problem lies in the overall concept of the control panel GUI - there's little that can be done to improve that. GUI would have to be completely re-designed, IMO.murnau wrote:Sorry, to say it polite: I can't see much difference to the usual color schemes with Modulation Source selectors as dropdown like it always was but at least you guys have some fun!

So, are we all in agreement yet that no matter how you skin it, it's still an awful UI?

With the current system you could use your own knobs, switches etc., your own background picture and could freely assign the positions of the controls (in the XML file). Should be enough for a complete re-design-fmr wrote:I was thinking exactly the same. The question is just how that new design should look like while keeping all controls at a single page and how much work and time is necessary.
It's not like teh current arrangement of the controls is tiotally senseless IMO.
The tweaks i had done myself so far were quite simple as i did not chnage the background (besides re-colouring the existing one) or the arrangement of the controls (except doing necessary corrections of the positions for the new knobs).

Now you're not even making sense. Do you even own Poly-Ana ? Guys you do realize that you can make a whole new background and layout for Poly-Ana now right ? It's just no one has done so yet. We're all just editing the default skin.Robert Randolph wrote:So, are we all in agreement yet that no matter how you skin it, it's still an awful UI?
So let the skinners have at it and give them suggestions or if you don't like the layout have at it yourself........

Poly-Ana is one of the ugliest commercial synths out there and right up there with the worst of the worst of GUI design. Unfortunately any of the examples posted here so far have not changed it even by a bit. Well, maybe a bit, but not much.

Currently i am replacing the 2-way and 3-way switches in my black/red skin. So far i only use re-coloured versions of the original switches.
If you find a 2-way switch knob file usually you could change that to 3 way by changing the amount of renders from 2 to 3 (for the rotary knobs the usual value is 360 rendersing steps as those need many more steps than a switch).
Actually it seems to be possible to create a simple switvh yourself just using the features included in JKnobMAn (without need for a picture for the switch).
