I got in the groove, pulled an all-nighter, and came up with this:

https://soundcloud.com/waterwraith/a-ha ... osc93-obxd

Using Bitwig Studio:

12x OBXD
7x EQ-5
1x EQ-2
2x Dynamics
2x Mid-Side Split
2x Compressor
1x Melda MLimiter

Edit: I spent some more time on mixing. Prolly could have put more time into it but I have been really busy.

hmm... either this is the most poorly optimized synth ever, or something is very wrong with my computer.
5 instances and i cant go any further.
doesn't seem like anyone else is having trouble so I guess it's on my end.
and i was so looking forward to doing a late halloween track...

well u guys aren't getting out of it that easily, i'll do halloween for christmas if i have to, and it'll be EXTRA unlistenable!
You win this time, One Synth Challenge, but you haven't seen the last of me...
I shall return, and it will be a dark day for mankind ahahahaha!

Dude!!! Well, first observation: don't use unison!!! You can get tons of instances without using 8 voice unison on all of them.

Post

I've got a 2012 Windows 7 sandy bridge laptop, and I'm getting 7 instances with 8-voice unison plus about another 20 instances without unison before it chokes in Ableton...

Post

I am at 16 instances of Obxd in FL Studio - 32bit and the CPU is now hovering around 85%. That also include a number of reverbs, compressors, EQ, etc. I am using a dual core i7 with 8Gb RAM.
Win 10 -64bit, CPU i7-7700K, 32Gb, Focusrite 2i2, FL-studio 20, Studio One 4, Reason 10

********* Quick Edit - added 5 more tracks @2:16- 2:44 - plucky leads) *******

Hi Folks ... no problems with CPU, but in the end I settled on 16 instances (+ 5 extra ones as above!). Fewer because this time I have done a track with no (yes NO) percussion at all! Hope you like it and don't feel too sad.

Please sit back and shut your eyes - the 3:30 mins will go quickly! Can be played quietly or loud (pick your preference!)

At first I had a similar issue in FL, couldn't load more than 10 instances before the CPU maxed out. But found a setting that really fixed this, for some reason it was disabled:
Wrapper settings->Processing->Allow threaded processing

Now I have 50+ tracks, many using unison, and the CPU is around 70-85%. And strangely enough my CPU is AMD FX6100 - a very old one.

Inspiring to look at. I think I'll enter in this month.

Hi everyone,

after a long time, it's me again. I greatly enjoyed making music with synth, really like it.
Here is my entry, enjoy.

Most of us have expectations towards life, e.g. I wanna do this, I wanna get that. Obviously, not all of them will come true. But there are things that are worth being patient and persistent for. Blessed is the man who knows what these are...

28 instances of OBDX
All FX DAW native

Orboscope wrote:Hey. Is anyone up for some feedback on the mix of my OBXD track? It really isn't finished in terms of songstructure and more, but some opinions on the mix would really be appreciated since I really screwed up in this respect the last time.
Bring it! The mix is already very nice, just resist the urge to redo/smash everything at the very last moment, this time ;). Kind of, do some tweaks along the way after you have taken a break for a day or two and hear it with fresh ears, and avoid that (almost literal) last minute overhaul without a chance to rest your ears and hear it "anew" after a while.

But seriously, it's shaping up really well now. (Especially after that 36 second mark or so, when it hits the intended full sound, of course.)
And another late reply of mine: Thank you for taking time for a listen. In my defence: I didn't redo everything the last minute, it sounded bad from the beginning  :D

This time should be better though. I hope I didn't worsen things by now.
