That means, if my logic doesn't escape me, that you would be the other person involved?

Why else would you post in this thread if you are not directly involved :?
Are you just trolling at this point? i disagree with the opinion that "this should only be discussed with the other person involved", but i don't think the comment logically leads to "you would be the other person involved".

i also don't get what your problem is with the text you quoted from my earlier post. There's a difference between "women-only forums" and "forums with a lot of women".

My contributions here have nothing to do with "political correctness", unless you think that equanimity and civility is "political correctness".

Since you have five responses on page 7 alone....you seem to be more directly involved than I.

Sure:

oooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooo

The above is a forum of only women. This one is exclusive. Its subject matter might be of a nature that generally only appeals to women (if we are going to presume stereotypes are full in force and no outliers are present). i can't think of the last time i visited one of these forums. The subject matter generally doesn't compel my interest.

ooooooiiioooooo
ioiioooiiiooooioo
oooiioooooiioiiio
ioooiiiooooioooo

The above is a forum with a lot of women. It is not exclusive. The subject matter might appeal to both genders, but there seems to be a few more women than men. i often find myself in these types of forums because the subject matter compels my interest (commonly social issues). Here is where i observe the most examples of mixed gender behavior, en mass.

Just in case i need to describe it, here's a male-dominated forum:

iiioiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
iiiiiiiioiiiiiiiooiiiiii
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiioiiiiiii
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

It's not exclusive, but i don't get to see many examples of women here ... and they tend to be chased off by the behavior of some of the less socially sophisticated men. In fact, sometimes the second type of forum gets turned into the third type because of that behavior...

In the end, KVR Forum, being about music making, I don't get why it is about male/female interests.

The B/GF of the OP might hate s/he's music taste, but that is healthy, means you got a place to yourself in a relationship.

So many different opinions on such a trivial matter. Maybe it is time for us all to get a life.

It should not be, but our culture makes it this way. Boys and girls are both given pressures to pursue (or avoid) certain interests depending on the culture's attitudes about which things "are for" which gender. Music should be for everyone, but for some reason it has been dominated by men for a very long time. The same holds true for many technical fields. People have become so acclimated to it as a "norm" that they erroneously assume that "women just don't have the aptitude or interest in such things". They see a cultural phenomenon and draw backward conclusions about the cause of a thing.

It's not healthy at all when a person tells their partner that they HATE (or to demean) an activity/interest that's very important to their partner.

Share responsibility, negotiates BOTH ways (giving and take), respect even if she doesn't.
BE YOURSELF because if you don't, nothing will ever work regardless of who you are with.

In other words, be impeccable with yourself.
The rest will follow or move on.

Because music is art, and artists in relationships with non-artists is a age-old pain in the ass for everyone involved, or nearby. Logically, there would be some creatively driven folks on this board who could give advice based on experience.

Imo, a post like the OP, while not a good sign for the relationship, is perfectly valid, and the sex of the poster or the significant other doesnt affect the validity.

Some artists thrive on conflict. Can't remember the name off hand, it was a writer, I read about, who used to argue with people purely because it got his creative juices flowing.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.
