Wags has the ability to turn every thread into a personal fight about himself.
So I will continue: I just went through a lot of your "music" on soundcloud, I have concluded you must be deaf, there is simply no other explanation for the blandness of the compositions and boring sounds you use.
Can't believe you are able to output such a bunch of nonsense posts and nonsense music at the same time.
If you consider popular music crap I guess yours can't even pass as music.

Anyone made a poll here when the average thread in KVR got wrecked.
It must be between page number 1-8 or so.
But it is also amazing how far a wrecked thread can go further.
I wish my car could do the same

Back to topic (and hoping to avoid the looming trainwreck):
Third day of refusing to buy new shiny things is nearly over! I feel sober and increasingly creative. My bloodpressure has come back to acceptable levels. My bank account is untouched like a snowy meadow in the morning. Hell, that’s not rock‘n‘roll! That‘s yoga...

I try it too but my heartbeat looks like complex MSEG´s and is out of tune and not analog enough. My bloodpressure is in overdrive mode and my bank account is a one shot saw tooth.martinjuenke wrote:Back to topic (and hoping to avoid the looming trainwreck):

Very strange thread. If there is one thing most people here have common is that we produce music that is somewhere between experimental, strange, innovative and crappy. And where this is exactly is really in the eye of the beholder.
I, for one, am grateful that Wagtunes invests in a lot of synths because his insights have been extremely helpful. And when it comes to GAS it is really whatever floats your boat. If you feel bad about buying too much or it negatively affects your life or or creativity you obviously need to do something about it. But if this is not the case what exactly is the problem? Jay Leno buys a lot of cars. Does not mean he is a bad driver.

We make allowances for rich people. We call them eccentric. Everybody else we just call crazy.mgw38 wrote:Very strange thread. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I still stand by my original statement that there is no correlation between how many synths one has and how much music one makes. Being a synth enthusiast doesn't necessarily make one "not really a musician".

This is exactly what is the thread about (I think!) and this is what some persons are trying to face, solve or analyze.mgw38 wrote:If you feel bad about buying too much or it negatively affects your life or or creativity you obviously need to do something about it.
People are suggesting what is working for them. We are different maybe, so if something doesn't work for you, try other suggestions.
I have a limited income (considered to be low here in NZ). So, I'm always making sacrifices to be able to buy plugins. I love synths and I love the music done by them, and making music is my main hobby (besides playing video games). But I suffer from this GAS because of this love (just like many here!). It is not easy to just say "If you don't need it, don't buy it"! If it was that easy, GAS wouldn't be exist!
Lately, I thought to assemble a new PC. I just could buy the case for several months now! The reason mainly is keep buying plugs/games that I like/love. Anyway, the plugs prices, even if discounted, costs a lot of money. This thread triggered the urge to face this problem, and I took the challenge, again! (as it seems I failed in my past tries!).
To keep it short, I suggest for those who are on the same boat to try my 'theoretical solution', which some have already known and experimented it. Try to make some music with what you have, and you will realize that you have many plugs that are not using for the past months. In my case, not because they are bad plugs or I lost my love for them! But because I have so many (more than 5 are so many to me!).
Now, if you are a professional and you are making money from those plugs, of course that doesn't apply on you. If you are a sound designer, urging people to not buy plugs, is not beneficial for you! If you are a developer, this is nonsense!
Anyway, I already have sold my first license! I hope I can assemble this new PC by buying the remaining parts when I sell the list
Of course I still have about 10 synths
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Hmmmm, if I judge you from your avatar, then I'm talking now with dead pixels?
