Whats with this stupid extra transport bar that doesn't integrate seamlessly into the GUI ? I'm testing out the Elements version just for reference...

It's a transport bar on steroids. It's called the lower zone and you call it up/get rid of it with a basic command. I don't know what 'doesn't integrate seamlessly' is supposed to say.

Well, I mean integrated like pretty much every other daw..but I figure you'll have guessed that.jancivil wrote:It's a transport bar on steroids. It's called the lower zone and you call it up/get rid of it with a basic command. I don't know what 'doesn't integrate seamlessly' is supposed to say.
On the whole though and whilst I can cross translate much of what I'm use to in Studio One 3, by that of the menu options, I really think the GUI needs to be brought up to modern standards, not still living in the 2004 era... It's seems quite Frankenstein of sorts.. in a similar vain that Reaper is... but somewhat more logically accessible. The windowing is just really really ugly and the main menu is barely readable whilst using the glass like Windows GUI as well as the framing around VST instruments, new songs create entirely separate windows.. no text uniformity around the GUI.... the list could go on and on... I sense that they understand how to make a manageable and logical GUI...but man. and I think that this is going to be the only option...and that's to rebuild Cubase on a modern API framework.

No I said what I meant. I don't know what you're talking about, you're not providing meaningful statements.THE INTRANCER wrote:Well, I mean integrated like pretty much every other daw..but I figure you'll have guessed that.jancivil wrote:It's a transport bar on steroids. Personally, I find it ironic when a Studio One user disses Cubase's GUI. Sure, I get it, it's all subjective and a matter of taste/personal preference, but certain aspects of Studio One need to be brought to "modern standards" much more so than of Cubase.
For example, Studio One still, by far, has the worst audio waveforms. They're barely tolerable when fully zoomed out, but once you start zooming in, it feels like you're looking at an 8-bit Atari. As if Presonus drew inspiration from Minecraft.
Pretty much the same goes for quality of audio and midi clips in the arrangement view. They do look a bit better when 'draw events translucent' option is ticked, but still visually incomparable to Cubase and almost every other DAW out there.
Really hoping Personus will revamp this area of their GUI in the upcoming releases. As it stands right now, IMO, Studio One is inferior to Cubase when it comes to overall GUI.

I agree. I find Cubase's GUI vastly better than Studio One's. Colours, contrast, depth... it's another level really.Late_Bloomer wrote:As it stands right now, IMO, Studio One is inferior to Cubase when it comes to overall GUI.

Colours and contrast were improved in V4.0... of Studio One, however that became a non issue with this free utility program that I re-pro/scripted extensively and made available to users during the 3.0... life cycle for Windows users on the Presonus forums. I explored the possibility's of what could be changed with Reaper vie it's preferences and that of what others have achieved with the design of the skins over the years I've known it, however the results of what I was able to changed fell short of what I wanted to change. And thus it would be more of a futile and time consuming exercise that I'd never been fully happy with at the end of it all, and this is due to the old legacy framework that exists. With Studio One 3 I was able to re-skin the transport bar, top toolbar section and browser tabs also..improving text and visual appearance, as shown....here.chk071 wrote:In all seriousness: Did you give Reaper a go? You can even skin that one yourself.

I'll come back to the other posters post about Cubase relating to Studio One later... in the middle of video editing a movie.

It's probably about a month away (annual updates are historically in November or December), and I don't think Stienberg generally puts out teasers so I wouldn't expect to hear/see anything solid until it's announced.killmaster wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 2:53 pm Haven't heard a peep on the release of Cubase 10. Usually end of November or 1st week of December. They usually announce it a few days in advance. Rarely any wait or hype period to speculate.
