aimed at durk (im too lazy for the whole html quoting thing, sorry):

<<Don't worry, I'm not as bad as I may look..>>

NP :-)

<<Well I rechecked the AnandTech review, it's not rivaling the fastest desktop CPUs, but only the faster desktop CPUs. At least in the area AnandTech tested. Take a look here.>>

well ok, let me put it this way: from my personal "benchmarks" (wich were purely audio related, as in, how many plugins of this type, how many plugins of that type, and at what latency), i would put it somewhere in the same league as a 3,2 GHZ P4, at least its faster than my 3,0 P4 (the only P4 i have).

it sure is a little slower than the latest and greatest. but thats the laptop version from today. it will be interesting to see how a touched up desktop version would compare.

<<Yes it's easy. But they won't do this for laptops, because it takes a lot more power.>>

probably not. but i meant the theoretical desktop version anyway.

<<Concluding, I think it's a very interesting move of Intel; bringing the Pentium M to the desktop. I'm very curious how this will happen!>>

note that its still a rumour (last i checked at least). but fwiw, its a rumour ive read about a lot more than once now. im curious too. cause, of course im not saying i will be right, its just what i would expect. since my prophecy-skills are only so-so, theres a good chance im completely wrong too :-)

<<Well I'm able to read German, but it will take some time, so the article should better be good!
Can you give me some names of those magazines?>>

its called "keyboards". not to confuse with "keys".
im not sure if it really makes sense to order older issues just for those benchmarks, unless youre interested in older computers ;-) as far as the dual G5 goes, maybe someone who reads this thread still has the issue in question handy and can just post the naked test results (there are quite a few germans hanging out here, at least thats my impression :-)

I wished AnandTech did some more audio tests... :(

Sure it's still a rumor. Intel would never confirm that too soon. But there's no other option for Intel left than starting make a desktop processor out of the Pentium M. They stopped developing the Pentium 4 Tejas...
