Absolute rubbish and nonsense. Dune is far more adept at analog than Hive. It's not even close.

I love Hive but for lush Analog Pads and Filter Sweeps, Dune is light years beyond Hive even at Dune version 2.

anyhoo... i like to use osc modulation on filter cut off. if i use oscillator 1 as a modulation source... and then assign it filter cutoff of parts 2+4 only... it won't modulate filter cutoff of part 1 and 3.
true, but osc1 from layer 2 is mod filter freq in layer 2, and osc1 from layer 4 is mod filter freq in layer 4

well, you guys can have at the hive vs dune debate. i'm not up for it right now. i can tell you i'm not getting those brassy warm cs sounds or the cinematic string sounds out of dune yet that i get out of hive automatically. i'd like to get to a point where i can move on from hive tho. i simply have too much on my hard drive to put time to it all atm.

The Memorymoon synths are good at such brass sounds, and much cheaper.

i am willing to replace but the point is to whittle it down now fluffy, not buy more shit. only two things i'm gassing for right now cypher2 (which is probably the most complete and beautiful thing i've ever heard) unfortunately, i already have my moog and my modulars... so i'm forcing myself to turn away... and I want a prophet. breaking down and looking at repro, but i'm excited to see the new p600 option too. i could trade in some kit for that. exchange out a few things instead of cramming more crap into my set up.

Well, when you already have lots of plugins, you likely have at least one that does great brass sounds, maybe you just have to program them on your own...

That's not Dune's fault. PEBKAC........ :hihi:

There is just no way Hive is "warmer" (a term I despise since it has no real meaning) than Dune. I've owned both for quite some time and love them both equally but if I need an Analog Pad sound I'm reaching for Dune way before Hive. But having said that I've got projects that have far more instances of Hive than Dune so each has its own character and strong points which is why owning both makes perfect sense to me.

Maybe spend some more time with Dune 2 and remember it's really 8 synths in one and each can have its own Filter/Type.

What does an analog pad even sound like? Usually it would merely be a two-wave pad due to the basic structure of most analog synths...

...officially trainwrecked thread.
Why do we even care how others create stuff.
Even ES2 is better for strings....so what? :D

But the truth is Dune 3 is maybe my most awaited synth upgrade. So i´m happy to see what it is next week.
