Camel alchemy vs logic alchemy

While I was a Windows Alchemy user when they sold up to Apple, it wasn't the fact that they HAD sold up that ticked me off, more that there was clearly a clause in their buyout agreement that they (CA) wouldn't give anyone any notice or allow existing users to buy up any of the expansions they wanted before cutting it off - it was just all gone 1 day, just like that. No "if you want anything, grab it now!" - just "all gone, bye Windows users". Would have been nice to buy up that stuff. Whether that was a genuine "we don't care" from CA, or a "screw Windows, haha" from Apple, who knows.
I still use v.1.55 occasionally - so much great stuff in there.

Camel actually gave us months of notice. However, the last changes made in the library and therefore the last installers, also introduced a couple of bugs. To which support replied to and acknowledged, but never fixed. Nothing that kills or crashes it, but added "annoyances". I wonder if that was an intentional Applitude parting gift now.
* Bugs are in scrolling behavior and forever showing a duplication of some presets and a duplication for sounds not purchased that were purchased.

Showing a duplicate of sounds was a problem also in the Logic version of Alchemy for me for a long time. I think after Logic 10.5 that was fixed.BBFG# wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 1:56 am Camel actually gave us months of notice. No bugs showed themselves in mine I ever came across - I still use it now too, occasionally. And a definite no to the notice here - first email I had as a registered user was telling me they'd sold up and everything was offline. Given the "wtf?!" posts all over forums at the time, I guess most others didn't get told months ahead either.BBFG# wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 1:56 am Camel actually gave us months of notice. Realize this is an old thread, but wondered if someone knows if it's possible to get the last Camel Audio version of Alchemy anywhere? I'm a paid owner but didn't get the last version before they sold.
This isn't what you think.

Downloads were personalised; the details of the owner were baked in and display onscreen when Alchemy loads. There's no legit generic installer, and Im not sure how many people would want to share their details with all the randos...skank wrote: Mon Oct 10, 2022 2:56 pm Realize this is an old thread, but wondered if someone knows if it's possible to get the last Camel Audio version of Alchemy anywhere? An idiot on Set Theory:

Another not minor detail was that there were plans for an upcoming Alchemy version 2. A thread was created where all the loyal users could come up with suggestions and ideas for new features for version 2. So in many ways all the windows users helped Camel Audio with the development of version 2, without getting any benefit out of it, other than an f-finger. That's what pissed me offLiero wrote: Sat Feb 02, 2019 10:41 amThis type of entitlement seems to pretty much define this generation - and it makes no sense to me.LeVzi wrote: Fri Feb 01, 2019 8:06 am Still, to this day, boils my p!ss to think how Camel Audio sold everyone other than logic users out by doing this.
Camelphat, camelspace, Alchemy were three awesome plugins and will never be updated nor improved again.
I used to respect them immensely when I started using their plugins and supported them.
You know absolutely nothing about the company and the reasons behind their decision, the deal was totally within their rights to do, you probably would have done the same in their shoes, and all you - probably a middle-aged man - can think about is crying like a baby about how you were "robbed" of one plugin because you have the wrong type of OS.
I don't want to ad hominem but, seriously... If you saw someone else behave like this, what would you think?

I've known about Camel Alchemy for years and even demo'd it back in the day, but found it was too complex. (Back then I was a rocker anyway).
Now that I'm all electronica, I've started looking into Alchemy. It's a fantastic synth. Logic's version, from the YT videos I've seen, is impressive. Is it in the cards that a Windows version would be released while I'm still above ground?

I’d say unlikely, but that might give you a false glimmer of hope. Alchemy was purchased by Apple specifically to be tied exclusively to Logic Pro, so the real answer is, no effing wayBoy Wonder wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 4:34 am Is it in the cards that a Windows version would be released while I'm still above ground?

Funny, I just dug out my old installers and dusted the girl off to do some spectral morphing between samples. Worked like a charm.

So did I! I can still run it in Live 10, and Numerology, so will be keeping those around I guess.

The current version of Alchemy in Logic has come a long way from the before days. It's one of my favorite synths, except Logic is only my secondary DAW.

same — but now with a speedy silicon unit alchemy and those LPX sequencer clips are pretty fun to go back to and a lot more painless to work with
a few things in LIVE too though of course LIVE projects are even easier to open in Bitwig
