For anyone who knows something about Greece mythology these names should raise an eyebrow.

Well (Nina?), as you said very well is mythology; no actual facts, no a national tragedy, no a distorted ideology, no a real history.

With all respect.

...and so another topic got hijacked.......

The Great mythological Epic story of 21th century (unfolding in forums), still think ancient greeks were somewhat more interesting.

and not only greeks, evolution is weird

well, you're new...I'm a mod and I'm going to request that you get back on topic or just leave the thread be, I see now where the troll synth thread started so I'll go lock that too. FTR people are complaining, stay on topic
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I do think that Icarus bring questions like how the engine of a synth is developed and how it has its signature sound, sometimes I feel like I really have to find a workaround to create some "very aggressive pluck song" at least compared with other synths where the results would be more immediate, Icarus does the job, is just that is interesting how different can be from others synths.

I would describe it as a very clean, clear and warm sound, artificial and digital; so I can see why some people differ in opinions of Icarus. But its signature sound wasn't looking for emulate anything I guess, it just seems that Tone2 wanted to create something unique and different, as the other synths and their respective weird or no-so-common synthesis techniques (I just have Icarus).

but that's really a question that will remain for me, what they are doing to make it sound so different is something I don't know, but I love it.

Used Icarus in all my projects in 2018. Love the little devil. However, Rapid (especially since the 1.5/1.6 update) has taken over this role. Bigger ui, better color scheme for my use and awesome osc mod options. Not to mention the nice layering and send fx options.

Still, Icarus is defo in my top 10 of best synths overall.

Never cared for the Tone 2 names either. But never let that be a reason to not use them. It's common for developers to use the names of deities, animals, magic, pseudo or real scientific terms and alliterations with or without intentional misspellings to set themselves apart. The one thing I've learned to avoid is any plugin or library that uses some artist name on its title. To date, those have been the greatest disappointment to me.
YMMV.
With Tone 2, read the science behind them, they really have some of the best research on psychoacoustics you can read and hear.

The crazy, paranoid licensing, EULA, and intrusive system scanning put me off of this company - not anything about the products themselves as synthesizers. Happily, more mellow developers cover the same areas of programming. Too bad for Tone 2 - there are other synthesizers to buy.

Here we go again...

I'm sure Tone2 don't mind not having you as customer anyway.

No other WT synth does what Icarus does.

If you really think that the copy protection of Tone2 is intrusive, I really don't want to know what means for you unintrusive.

A simple key file that you can save and use whenever you want independently of the company, you don't even need Internet or to be dependent of the company in order to the software you paid for to work; is not a limited license and you can use it in as many machines you want as long you are the owner. How terribly intrusive is that?

That's why someone said haters gonna hate...

Sfd you back at it again, talking about something completely unrelated in threads, off topic argument and your wish to always seek the contrary.

I never said Ilok is cancer or something like that, I always said the problem about that copy protection scheme and dangers of a imminent future where this license is used in the long run. By the way, for respect to the mods and in respect of forum rules We will not discuss that here, will be other time.

With all respect, peace and love with you sfd.
