If you get rid of many engineers, you're not going to develop new state-of-art products. That's what my previous company did, at least

I finally bought Komplete Ultimate 12 on summer sale and was positively suprised by NI product quality, as well as their upcoming product line. Too bad we might not be getting any hot stuff anymore.

No doubt about it but considering those layoffs... for how long?

Maybe they will outsource parts of the development and cut their costs that way.

I guess they just want to milk a cash cow while it's alive. NI can just carry on NKS, Kontakt libraries and Maschine expansions at low cost, without full R&S department.discoDSP wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:42 pmNo doubt about it but considering those layoffs... for how long?![]()
You can't outsource musical instruments to a random gang of undergraduate students from India. You need musicans who love music and just know their stuff.Maybe they will outsource parts of the development

At the very least as long as Kontakt is strong (and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon), and as long as there's 3rd party dev interest in NKS products, which there is, there's a steady influx of 3rd parties wanting to join the NKS ecosystem... so there you have it.discoDSP wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:42 pmNo doubt about it but considering those layoffs... for how long?![]()

I'm not going to see the day where you, as a Kontakt scripter, would say that Kontakt is over.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:52 pmAt the very least as long as Kontakt is strong (and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon), and as long as there's 3rd party dev interest in NKS products, which there is, there's a steady influx of 3rd parties wanting to join the NKS ecosystem... so there you have it.discoDSP wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:42 pmNo doubt about it but considering those layoffs... for how long?![]()

I think 3rd party devs feel forced to join the NKS ecosystem. This has nothing to do with interest imho.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:52 pmAt the very least as long as Kontakt is strong (and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon), and as long as there's 3rd party dev interest in NKS products, which there is, there's a steady influx of 3rd parties wanting to join the NKS ecosystem... so there you have it.discoDSP wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2019 5:42 pmNo doubt about it but considering those layoffs... for how long?![]()
NI´s hardware is really good but NKS is a disaster to use and implement.
NKS and sounds.com are the weakest spots of NI.
