the upgrade really isn't that expensive. But I agree that the ultra long trial really was a bait. The Trial should have made sure that nobody bought Live 10 at full price and miss out on the update and not to get people to double dip.

Having now had chance to use 11 for a short time I have to say I think it is superb, it’s like a new DAW for me. The 10.1 update and 11 pretty much give me everything I want, I honestly don’t know what I would need adding in terms of big new features, just improvements to what’s there (the browser etc) and make it snappier loading things.

11 has certainly caught up with Bitwig for headline features cancelling out some bitwig advantages like MPE and multi editing. It has retrospective midi, groove extract, audio to midi, automation curves etc and now comping, probability, scene follow actions etc. It’s certainly set a high bar for Bitwig 4

I've been playing with 11 since it came out and it is fantastic, but some things are still hard to accept, e.g. how there's no track mode for piano roll or audio editor, how modulation works, how there's no mixer in arrangement view and how session cannot be rotated 90°. Even small and fairly new - for Bitwig - of stretching MIDI and audio clips right on the timeline. You can't do that with MIDI at all in Live and for audio warp needs to be enabled first. All small things, really. But it's hard to not have them after one has gotten used to them being there.

But Capture is awesome, so is comping, or step input or scene follow actions.

I feel the sameish. It's a bit of a issue for me now that Bitwig and Live try to out-do the other with feature the other dosesn't have Can't have both.

Live has clip gain. Are you talking about visually on the clip in the timeline? As to audio editing, I missed that at first until I realized you can do basically the same thing on the timeline, and with the aforementioned clip gain.

And for every bitter comment, there's probably a thousand users (minimum) who don't feel that way. The problem with the Internet is that people can form their own little communities/tribes/groups and think because they see the same opinions all the time from their group. that they are somehow a majority.

For me Live is a DAW for making music the fastest way possible when the ideas are flowing in the moment.
BWS for me is more like a Modular Synth with a built-in a Sequencer and it gets in the way of the flow.

Why are you perpetuating this idea that Live updates every 4-5 years? It was like this only once and now they're at 3 years, very likely aiming at 2 years cycle down the road (I wouldn't mind, if they're big updates like 11 is).

If anything the cycle is irregular since 8, 3 years is longer that any other DAW anyway.

And you can upgrade when you want, not only at release.

It was about moving automation to separate "automation view" ("A" key), which was meant to free the "content view" for some other unspecified feature. I hated it at first, but I really like it now. Perhaps that feature was comping lanes? Because indeed it would be confusing to have 2 types of "sub" lanes - for takes and for automation?

Or for free. Seriously, v11 appears to be one of the biggest DAW updates in recent history and we had quite a few recently (Bitwig 3, Logic Pro 10.5, FL 20).
