Yeah I was wondering that since I just received my new voucher along with the Tantra 2 announcement.

I figure it must overwrite version 1?

on the mac at least, the new version appears as DS Tantra 2. you can run the two side by side.

So I've been spending quite a bit of time comparing Tantra 1 to Tantra 2. Just thought I'd share a few thoughts.
- I just reread a DS newsletter from Feb. 2019 announcing the move to PA and Tantra 2 as well as Diversion 2. Interesting that he was supposed to finish Diversion 2 first by the end of that year and put it on PA.
- Here's a quote from that newsletter - " Both Diversion 2 and Tantra 2 will provide much more new features and improvements than their current versions." I guess you'll have to be the judge of that. Not seeing many new features in Tantra 2 except for a few new filters.
- Like others, I've heard no big differences in sound between v1 and v2. I've A/B'd many many presets. Sometimes I think I hear a bit more crispiness in v2 but then, maybe not. They are very close.
- I know lots has been said about the new GUI. I personally don't mind it too much as I wasn't particularly enamored with v1. However, there is one big improvement, imho, that no one has talked about. 1) The matrix window is no longer in the way of the controls which makes for easier modulation tweaking. I do not like how the matrix sits on top of the controls in v1. Also, 2) I like that the modulations are now dynamic in v2 vs. stagnant in v1. The visuals are very helpful for tweaking modulations.
- Is this enough for me to upgrade for $49? Well, no. I checked and my outlay for v1 was $49 plus $12 each for the extensions. I'll be patient and wait. $19.99 is probably my target price. In the meantime, thanks for the Infiltrator tip. I'll definitely be checking that out. Hope this helps!

All of PA's regular prices are preposterous and that's why they take so much heat here.

They do it to bump up the perceived value of the subscription service.

Yes if you wait and play the voucher roulette game you'll get a better price but that makes the whole thing seem even more ridiculous.

Sorry, still waiting for Diversion 2, that was, as we all know now, announced a long time ago as a really advanced product. Tantra 2 means nothing to me : not interested yesterday, not interested today, not interested tomorrow. I’ll buy Diversion 2 as soon as it pops up DS. :tu:

So, what is actually functionally new?
Seems like the gui is the focus.

They protect v1 customers who suffer from GAS to jump in too early. Much later they can think about getting the PA version and sell their v1 to someone who doesn‘t like PA. That worked fine for me with Thorn (paid less than the upgrade price for a full version). It will work even better with Tantra, because the official upgrade price from v1 is just a joke… Sounds like win win…

Dunno where you saw that , its 49.99 from Tantra 1 on their site. EDIT : That's PA prices, throw VAT on that
You´re right, I didn´t read the overview text just looked at the prices on top.
And you gotta contact Dimitry by the looks to do that update.
The email I got said to contact PA support so hopefully there is no need to contact Dmitry (I guess they will handle checking v1 licenses directly with him)

I haven't heard back from DS yet either

Just tried it out on an Ambient Soundtrack I was working on.
For this application it was very useful.
I used 2 instances, one on the drum bus, the other on the synth bus.

Being able to rhythmically sync the effects between the synths and drums was very useful.
