On Dec 1st the deal became official with Fender. So far I've noticed communication has gone quiet with certain staff via the Studio One facebook group. Matthias (Studio One) is now VP of Technology. JIm Boinott was Presonus CEO is EVP, Jim Odom is President etc.

I would be very, very, very surprised if we see any change to Studio One in the next years.

Just repeating myself though.

I love Studio One and I wasn't really considering the buyout might be for the worse, but I guess anything is possible. I hope they realize what a jewel they have with this DAW and treat it smartly.

Fender + PreSonus together makes the future of their products stronger and better in the long run.

I think it is a clear case of 1 + 1 = 3.

Fender will add a Tremelo that won't stay in tune to S1 soon

I will stay UNTIL they go subscription only

For one reason, it will be good to have a leading DAW that is more balanced in embracing band/guitar based music styles. Other DAWs seem lopsided toward "electronic" genres of music styles.

Newsflash: ALL genres of music are primarily produced within a DAW and have been for years.

What features do you feel are missing from DAWs that make them unbalanced for guitar-based music? Or, maybe more specifically, what features are you hoping Fender will bring to Studio One for guitar-based music?
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

skeuomorphic fender amp sims, tabs library, generate tabs track from audio, tutes/lessons, backing tracks for practise, slowing down tracks for learning, bundle studio one lite with guitars and amps plus value upgrade path.
Shitloads of potential to integrate all of that.
I find the doom and gloom in this thread quite silly, there are huge upsides that are pretty obvious

That’s one thing I’m hoping for - an official Fender amp sim (that includes their bass amps)

As far as the electronic/hip hop that's what's selling is my guess. The show page is perfect for live musicians, but how many are actually using it.

Show page is recent - maybe they see lots of potential for growth through the Fender link. Not something I have even opened

Fender amp sims would be good, would be curious to see if they can beat IK Multimedia in that area. As far as the backing tracks to practice and the rest, probably wouldn't go well for the S1 customers who are not guitar players. Also, would probably lose many customers who are not guitar players who want them to focus on music production (what Slate is doing). I think many will feel Presonus would be wasting their time, and move on. I'm just going on based on what I've be reading from other customers. Good ideas though.

I don't know. If you read the S1 facebook group, didn't seem like many use it. Many who asked about it, wanted that Ableton like workflow.

Presonus EVP (former CEO) Jim Benoitt had a meeting I guess to tell more about the acquisition and plans. He said the priority was the software. He mentioned "Studio One being the number one DAW". This is was mentioned in the S1 facebook group yesterday.

I think if Fender can stay balanced with Studio One, and not just make stuff for guitar players only they will be fine. If it's that way, I expect many to leave. Studio One also need to get more the young music maker on board like FL or Ableton has. Just my 2.
