Does the clicking happen when the hits are separate (i.e. the sample finishes playing), or when they overlap (i.e. the first hit is still playing)? If you're suddenly interruping the playback of a single cycle wave, it is likely not on a zero crossing and might produce a click. Maybe try very small attack and release values to allow it to fade to 0, if it doesn't affect the transient too much.
I've found that for sounds like cymbals, it helps to set the polyphony of the pad to 2 voices so that they don't abruptly cut off with the next hit. That also might help, but if you have a long release, it might also suck a bit : )

That seems to be a good explanation. If set to mono (1 voice at a time) the newly startet wave interrupts the former on at a different moment in phase. This results in clicking if the phase is far away from each other and doesn't if they match. I already tried with longer release and attack times. More complex waveforms seem to mask the clicking. It seems only to occur with sine and triangle waves.

Might be stating the obvious sorry but have you increased fade in / out time next to voice group from 0ms ? That seems to work for me.

Hi, is there a possibility to assign pad outputs automatically (ascending outputs) instead of doing it manually for each pad?
thanks

Ah found it, the menu opens when clicking the preset and offers this option

hi, I have a couple of suggestions for the Ui - the choice of layers by lightening instead of darkening (the same pattern as on the rest of the interface elements) + a more pronounced frame around. Remove the filling on the waveform - it is confusing + faster zoom when mouse scrolling.

There is also a question about loading RAM - an empty TAL Drum takes about 800 MB - why so much?
for example, Apisonic Speedrum 2 is about 70 MB, Wave Alchemy Triaz WITH samples 300 MB, your own TAL Sampler 80 MB, TAL Mod 12 MB

I second the suggestions for the UI. I struggle with which layer is selected as well, highlighting would be much more intuitive and readable. Same goes for the waveform.durachok wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 6:58 am hi, I have a couple of suggestions for the Ui - the choice of layers by lightening instead of darkening (the same pattern as on the rest of the interface elements) + a more pronounced frame around. I don´t care about the RAM. Never had an issue with that. Should I care?

If you use multiple Instances per Project and maybe work on multiple Projects, then RAM is important.
Unfortunatly since the last major update TAL-Sampler also needs much more RAM...

Im am sorry to say that. Since I have UVI Falcon I stopped using TAL Drum.
Maybe not forever but at least for now.
It´s so neat to have everything at hand and being able to mix up oscillators with samples in keyzones and fx and an arbitrary amount of envelopes and lfos....you name it.
Honestly I miss the simplicity so please Patrick could you implement some basic waveforms to use alongside the samples (like in TAL sampler)?
At least a sine wave and some white noise would really make a difference.

Holy cow, you're right! I had never looked at RAM usage before, but I can use many instances of tal drum in a project and this is crazy.durachok wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 6:58 amThere is also a question about loading RAM - an empty TAL Drum takes about 800 MB - why so much?

With reaper:
- reaper only: 76MB
- with 1 empty vst3i TAL-Drum: 600MB
- with 2 empty vst3i TAL-Drum: 1100MB
- with 3 empty vst3i TAL-Drum: 1600MB
This is a major bug and really needs to be fixed ASAP.

This has been much improved in 2.7.6 (released yesterday).swivel wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 1:48 amHoly cow, you're right! in TAL Drum, there is an Amp ADSR per layer, but there is no global Amp ADSR/MSEG per pad, last in the signal chain, after low-fi and saturation - it would be nice to implement this, there are sound design techniques where this is critical, this is also very important if the pad is not played in the 'one shot' mode with notes of different durations and there are many layers on the pad. Also, during the tests, I noticed that TAL Drum uses a very high-quality resampling mode, how about introducing a lower-quality option - linear and point interpolation? For example, point interpolation gives a very rough, crunchy sound when lowering the pitch. And the embed audio mode would be a great option - losing samples in old or migrated projects is a real headache.

Regarding resampling, it would be really nice if we could have resampling options per pad like in TAL-Sampler and TAL-DAC, aside from high-quality resampling ("hold" mode?). I generally prefer variable mode, but some simple linear interpolation can be useful for crunchier sounds, indeed. That would practically be like having a TAL-DAC per pad. Awesome, eh?
