Sadly all the envelopes still are linear only, you have no control over the curve factor at all, in all of the three synthesises. I really do not understand such a decision: You have so much flexibility and options, yet no curves at all in ADSR. Just makes no sense to me...

It's not because the graphical representation of envelopes are linear that they are linear .Hanz Meyzer wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:18 am Sadly all the envelopes still are linear only, you have no control over the curve factor at all, in all of the three synthesises. I am confident that every decay stage of the envelopes are NOT linear (both in the awm2 engine and fmx ) , just see for yourself and record the output (obviously with zero sustain to clearly see the decay stage )
Just tried it on my yamaha A4K sampler ( also awm2 engine) , not linear at all

Ok, but it would be better, if the user could control the curve type.

If you're wanting a more stiff graded piano action, the Montage M8x isn't going to be that.tristan- wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 6:24 pm Thanks for the info on GEX! Is it graded? I wonder how it would stack against Yamaha's top action on the P-515 or Roland's PHA-50 on the Fantom and RD-2000. Or Fatar's TP-40/W/TP-400/Wood
The keys feel slightly heavier than the Stage 4... but are still quick enough to allow fast synth runs.
GEX aftertouch (poly or channel) is far more responsive than on the Fantom.
Fantom's aftertouch takes a lot of force to engage... making it almost an on/off switch.
Can't believe that feature made it thru beta-testing.
I bought the Fantom 8 two different times (first release and after multi-sample support was added). Ended up selling it both times.
Realworld polyphony was just too low to create the four-part layer I needed for songs like "Here I Go Again" (Piano, E Piano, Vox Pad, Synth Pad).
Setting this up on Fantom, you could hear obvious voice-steeling.
No problem with OG Montage, Kronos, K2700, Stage-3, Stage-4 (no audible voice steeling)
You could reduce the complexity of the Roland layers (to conserve polyphony)... but at that point you lose the rich/complex sound.

Everyone has a big misconception.
They said that after I spoke to the Yamaha official, the VST will be provided exclusively for the churches(For Worship Only), and that the actual Montage M must be connected to the PC to be made available.

Absolutely correct (not sure about “church and worship” bit) but, how can anyone expect Yamaha to release Vst version of their $5000 dollar flagship synth to everyone?! Unless they charge $5000 for itgandam21 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 8:27 am Everyone has a big misconception.

OK, maybe $2000 - $3000 for hardware part.
Anyone here prepared to pay that much for software synth?

No hardware will be required.gandam21 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 8:27 am Everyone has a big misconception.

EXPANDED SOFTSYNTH PLUGIN (E.S.P.) (COMING EARLY 2024)
A game-changer for musicians, the Expanded Softsynth Plugin (E.S.P.) replicates the MONTAGE M in your favorite Digital Workstation (DAW). Free for all registered MONTAGE M owners, E.S.P. allows you to create, edit and mix MONTAGE M Performances anywhere you happen to be – without the hardware – offering an unprecedented level of stage and studio integration. We are planning on releasing E.S.P. in Early 2024. The first version will have all the MONTAGE M sound while being limited to basic editing. The full version will be available in Summer 2024.

It doesn’t make sense when the montage has to be used as a dongle , then why release a vst in the first place ?gandam21 wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 8:27 am Everyone has a big misconception.

Extra incentive for Montage $5000 synth
PS; Montage plug-in will never be released to masses at any price point, get over it guys…

Point is , why release a vst which is a 1:1 copy of the hardware but it needs the hardware to run ?
What would make sense it that you need the montage to register the vst ( one time only, unique id) but not as a hardware dongle

the biz will rule at the end of the day i´d guess.
They could sell the VST for 1000, 1500 or 2000.- .
What´s the difference if it´s 1500$ for that plugin and nobody would buy it, vs. a non "open release" at all?
At least they´d had a chance to cash in some. And might make some few dudes happy still.
some posts here don´t make any sense to me at all.
It´s like wishfull elitism.
Is Yamaha that f**ked up ?

Isn't Yamaha still tied in with Steinberg? All of their stuff has always appeared through Halion. At best we will see a few more Halion modules...the plugin already exists: Halion.

It's ironic that Yamaha products like Yamaha workstation keyboards don't come with any vst editors to be used in cubase.
Since Steinberg and Yamaha are pretty much one company you would expect their products to integrate well. But they can't even make vst editors for their keyboards
