Hi
Some may remember a few years ago when Rob Papen went ILok for a very short period of time, and then reverted back to whatever they were using before (serial?) - I think their sales must have taken a dive and they had no choice really.
I agree with what has been said - same reaction, looked at the page and was highly impressed only to then see that it cannot be purchased outright.
I just don't agree with the 'model' - after 5 years of paying into this you would be down £500-700+/- - are they not thinking this through? I mean you can buy a s... load of top synths for that price - you could even get something like Komplete or whatever.
So, ultimately the long term cost of this synth is staggering and I have no interest in it whatsoever in it's current form.

The “Current” made quite of a short-circuit and they keep doubling down?

Cherry Audio's looking better now, eh? I mean, we can debate the quality of specific filter emulations, etc., but "Here's a pretty cool synth for like, $40, $50 USD, and we'll do another in a few months, or you can have all of them for, say, $300" is starting to sound pretty good, compared to the seemingly endless stream of companies that think they're the music production equivalent of Netflix, but with only a few movies and one tv show that might get a second season.

Calm down, everyone. It's going to flop, obviously ,and then they'll release a paid version that we can buy if we want it.

If they have Minimal Ego there is some possibility… so far no sign of it.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:36 pm Calm down, everyone. It's going to flop, obviously ,and then they'll release a paid version that we can buy if we want it.

Over time, this could be the most expensive plugin ever.

Hey everyone, just want to share that we are aware of this thread as painful as it is to read. I want to apologize for that tweet about pricing, it was in direct response to a discussion -- and it was an expression, not an MSRP for Current, or an official stance. We are obviously unable to respond to every comment and are aware some people are extremely disappointed. We are not "doubling down" -- but Current as of right now, is directly tied to the Stream, unlimited downloads, and no restrictions over any of our products be it perpetual or subscription. We cannot change that so quickly and after years of working on this, we're proud of what we've launched today. We will continue to hear you out and evaluate in the future. I hope you'll give us the benefit of the doubt that we will continue to release amazing products.

Just sell the synth, and offer an all in subscription model. Why keep the pain train in motion like this?
