According to this article, apparently an Elka Synthex clone is in the works.

The article also says, they're using FPGAs. Which if I understand correctly are digital processors, but whether they're used for oscillators or not I've no idea.

I suspect the (programmable) FPGAs are purely digital controllers — with the audio signal path staying true to the original.

Same. The JT-16 and the Wave are the two main ones I'm waiting for. But I'm also interested to see how the UB-X (not Xa) turns out. Kind of hope they decide to go for a fully-utilized SEM filter for the UB-X and make it multimode.

I hope that Alex Bell is getting good money from Uli Behringer for giving him ideas on what to clone next...

Actually... Yes. Have been thinking about this very thing of late. 8)
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I'd like to see a Pro VS desktop
/rack. Like the Pro 800 only with the VS engine

I see UBXa is finally in stock in NZ so I don't have to speculate about it any more. I'll get one asap when I get back from Thailand. I almost crossed it off my list after they announced the Jupiter, but realistically...that's going to be a year or more away at least, so I need a big new toy in the meantime. No sign of the MS5 yet, which will be an instabuy. Is MS5 released out there in the real world yet?

Just pre-order so far. Anticipated October delivery:

Could be a nice Eurorack controller/interface as well. 8) :tu:

Let us know how you get on :tu:

Will do. TBH I think UBXa is ugly as sin, but I can live with those stupid go-faster stripes. Not sure it actually goes any faster anyway, I always thought of Obies as pretty slow.

MS5 in October, in the US?! :o
Fk. That prolly means 2025 here in NZ. :scared:
GAS for us hw freaks is so much slower and painful. I miss the instant gratification of sw...almost.

I am hot for the new Oberheim TEO-5, with stripes and everything.
- andertons uk say middle july
- germany say september
- sweden says end of july

The ugliest synth I saw would be OB-X8 though.
- it would really need stripes, I think ;)

Post

Oberheim told me beginning of July.

For ugliness that only a mother could love, I suppose a Moog grandmother in matching multicolour stripes would be more vomitworthy than a plain stripey OB. Things could always be worse... :phew:
