The Massive 08-Drive I wavetable loaded into Dune is the closest I've heard a virtual instrument get to the Waldorf Quantum.

Maybe, I can’t say I’ve ever owned a Microwave 1, and I never will.

There are many lovely sounding filters, analog, digital, digital emulations. All of them have different characteristics. I love the 3rd Wave filter a lot, because it has an option to compensate for loss of bass when using resonance. I think it’s the same filter that’s in the new Prophet 5s.
While I dont have an M nor a 3rd Wave, I do have the mentioned Digital Synths, so thanks to Uncle E will now just try it out and see how far I can get. From my memory the M at least has an analog filter supposed to recreate the original MW, not sure how close it is, yet I do know how the Microwave sounds.
I’m not sure the M filter is supposed to recreate the Microwave rev1 filter. It does sound very good, though. I can confirm that.

Thanks a lot for this... will try it out! :phones:
I wonder how those differ from the PPG wavetables that seem to be all over the web.

When I was making my faux Microwave using Dune 3, I was using wavetables from this site. Before filtering they sounded pretty close to me.

Didn't work for me. It said the operating system file was missing, which it wasn't. I tried my old Microwave 2 OS file v2.33 and that didn't work either. Could be a Beta issue, the Ostirus works fine.

Hope that Waldorf do bring a Microwave VST out and I can load my Microwave 2 programs.

You’re using the wrong file. There’s instructions in the Discord.

Hmmm' I don't think so. I got Vavra to work using the equivalent .mid file for the Micro q so it should work...but didn't. I'm still open to the idea that I'm doing something wrong though, thanks for suggesting Discord I'll look into it.

That .mid file technique doesn't work for Xenia. You can't use the file from the Waldorf website. As noted above, instructions are in the discord.

Anyhow, Xenia is incredible. It truly does sound like my beloved Microwave XT. I'm astounded that this is free! It sounds so good.

Unlike the other plugins you need to drag & drop the files onto Xenia. It'll store them in memory after that (ie you only need to do it once). Don't keep the patch files in the same folder as the vst or you might get errors.

Xenia works different in that regard from Vavra. That file that you used is only an update for a hardware MWII/XT and it is missing some parts of the code. The ROM you need are actually two bin files. With a hardware MW this is in two chips. Your MIDI-file (update) only contains code for one of the two. That's why it doesn't work for you.

So you need two ROM-files, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Vavra only neede a midi file to work .
For xenia to work you need the bin files
There are two of them and as said earlier in the thread they are NOT on the waldorf site but somewhere else to be found ...
I have no idea why vavra had enough with a midi sysex file , perhaps the bin was encoded in that file ( is that even possible ) ?

There are a ton of patches for this on the Waldorf site though - look in the legacy hardware section
