I'm hopeful enough that AI won't replace the connection we have to human-constructed music. I don't see a program replicating the emotional value from a song that tells a story. A simple club hit that people don't care much for, maybe, but proper tracks that tell a story - either through lyrics or melodic progression - I think we'll always gravitate towards real people. I think that psychologically bounces back to knowing that a person is behind a song as well, if I find out a song was AI-made, even if I ended up liking it I would just get a bad taste in my mouth. At least with a mid song made by a person I can relate to the fact that the musician/producer is progressing and learning to be better at their craft, and I will continue to support that person if I can hear the potential. Hell, that makes a banger from that producer even better when he finally nails it.
Yeah, it's probably likely that AI tools like some of the Waves Audio plugins will become mainstream for ease of use and quicker releases when they are good enough. AI completely replacing producers? Nah.

AI + Music --> What will the future look like?

AI + Music --> What will the future look like? I'll venture a prediction.
1. AI tools + plugins
-----------------------------
There will be AI equalizers that automatically analyze the material and make
suggestions: more open, closer, further away, more energetic, more centered,
etc. You can then select all these attributes and the AI will apply the setting it
has learned is the right one.
The same will happen with compressors. There will therefore be dynamic,
very helpful and intuitively operable compressors.
These AI tools will help the composer, the recording engineer, and the mixer
create "their" perfect mix. AI is extremely helpful here.
2. AI song composition - in 1-3 years
---------------------------------------------------
Here we already see platforms like Suno, Boomy, Aiva, Soundful, Soundraw,
Mubert, Loudly, Beatoven.ai, Udio, Makebestmusic, Jukebox and others. The
ability to create entirely new songs is astonishing. Nevertheless, the songs are
full of small errors, don't really sound optimal, and you can often even hear the
stem extraction noises that were used.
Can these platforms replace composers, musicians, and mixers?
They can't do that. AI artifacts are too easily audible, the repertoire is too
small, and the mix is too poor if you have the highest standards.
3. AI song composition - in 4 years and later
-------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, the AI creators have been further developed. Just as the speech-
generating platforms are now mostly quite perfect and hardly make any
mistakes, the new AI music creators have also become much, much better.
They can now create almost perfect pop, rock, dance, or trance music at a
glance, and in a diverse, varied, and original way.
And this has extreme consequences: Both individuals and music companies
are flooding Spotify and all social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok
with a constant stream of new, great songs. And the kids and teenagers in
all countries are totally into it.
Of course, there are still musicians who sing into the microphone themselves
and pick up the guitar, who still press the record button. But they are
relatively few – in the percentage range – and their numbers are dwindling.
The big companies and those dominating Spotify have discovered:
With AI creators, they can generate songs in no time, upload them in droves,
and even make money. Companies are even using AI to design live groups,
partly human, partly avatar, which are presented as live performers and deliver
fantastic, breathtaking, even superhuman live performances. TV and internet
platforms will be flooded with them — teenagers are intoxicated by them and
click on them.
An older participant at a meeting raises his hand: "Where do people still
actually sing and play guitar?" A voice from the crowd replies: "You can do
that at the senior citizens' center. My grandma goes there too. They still do
such strange things!"
