Since it is a Yamaha emu I spent some hours playing the synth, it is a great inspiring synth
The reverb as strange as it sounds it is a part of its character, I added some better reverb and in most cases the original reverb simply works better. I managed to sell one Waldorf and two Softube plugins, I need this synth, my first impression was completely wrong.
Made a second demo

Very well saidTeksonik wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 2:23 pm I will say this since we're on a site dedicated to the creation of Intellectual Property, it would hypocritical to advocate for the violation of IP rights. If you think it's perfectly fine to steal someone else's IP then it would be fine for someone to steal yours. Right? Potential criminal punishment or lack thereof does not factor into morality.
But if one is willing to compromise their morals for a few megs of ancient sample content then that speaks volumes about their character....or lack thereof.
Beyond that there is absolutely nothing to gain by using Yamaha's IP anyway as the sample content Sheaf created is amazingly close but legal. It's so close that there is no reason to even worry about the old Yamaha samples, even if you are not worried about stealing other peoples IP, why bother? It's just not worth the hassle
And beyond that once the ability to import our own samples comes out there will be far more interesting things to import into it anyway
It's not like the original AWM content in the SY77 is legendary or renowned. Even Yamaha themselves totally abandoned it
I am sitting on a pretty vast library of legal samples I made myself from my Korg M1. I can't wait to use those as even in 1990 the M1 was far more interesting than the Yamaha AWM library in the SY77. Same for the Prophet VS, and D50
As for the sample based factory AWM waveforms that work so well with the AFM the Swayed factory library that Sheaf made work just as well

So far, so good. Congrats on the release! But only a 10-minute demo before the plugin mutes the audio? That leaves very little time to be fully convinced. There are definitely better demo options out there.

As I stated earlier, the value of that synth (presumably) lay in the tech, not the samples.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 7:00 pmVery well saidTeksonik wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 2:23 pm I will say this since we're on a site dedicated to the creation of Intellectual Property, it would hypocritical to advocate for the violation of IP rights. I believe it's 10 minutes, but time goes fast if you are enjoying yourself!xplorax wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 8:45 pmBut only a 5-minute demo before the plugin mutes the audio? That leaves very little time to be fully convinced. There are definitely better demo options out there.
Remove and reload the plugin, and you'll get more time. I prefer this to noise bursts, personally, but it does mean you won't be able to spend hour deeply exploring the synthesis options with the demo unless you break it up in smaller little explorations.

Thanks for your reply!! You are right. When opening the plugin it "says" ten minutes. But mine stopped after about five minutes. I was only able to briefly try out five or six of the first presets. Then audio stopped. After that I deleted the track with the Swayed VST, created a new instrument track and opened a new instance of Swayed. This time audio even stopped after about a minute or two. That frustrated me so much that I stopped right after that.
Why is there no demo version that lasts (e.a.) at least 24 hours or several days, like with other plugins? Other manufacturers even give you a week, or at least several days. 99 euros or dollars isn't exactly a bargain if, for whatever reason, you end up not being satisfied.
However, wishing you all happy Easter!!

Understandable - the best thing is to report it to sheaf, if something's buggy he'lll want to fix it. he's not trying to make the demo experience miserable...xplorax wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:00 pm Thanks for your reply!! Developers make thousands of decisions, for all kinds of usually well-considered reasons. I'm sure the demo situation was very carefully chosen for good reasons, but yeah not everyone will agree on any given implementation...xplorax wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:00 pmWhy is there no demo version that lasts (e.a.) at least 24 hours or several days, like with other plugins? Some plugins don't have any demos like Omnispherexplorax wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:00 pm Why is there no demo version that lasts (e.a.) at least 24 hours or several days, like with other plugins? Other manufacturers even give you a week, or at least several days.
many time out after a brief period of time
Very few last a week or several days
Honestly it's a SY77 plugin, that synth has been around since 1989

Not for me (MacOs, Logic Pro). You should report it too.zington wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 7:19 pm Quick question for folks who have purchased. Does it remember the screen size between restarts ? Thanks

Synthesizers with large sample libraries don’t really count for this kind of comparison. If Spectrasonics had to pay for all the bandwidth for every demo, that could get costly.IvyBirds wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 1:28 amSome plugins don't have any demos like Omnispherexplorax wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:00 pm Why is there no demo version that lasts (e.a.) at least 24 hours or several days, like with other plugins? It seems obvious that the original Yamaha samples are not needed anymore. And once you can load your own samples, Swayed will be better to use for D50 kind of sounds etc.
What would also be a great addition is to implement the overall ability of microtuning.

True but a Demo version doesn't have to include the full on sample libraryzerocrossing wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 3:07 amSynthesizers with large sample libraries don’t really count for this kind of comparison. You could easily demo Omnisphere with just a fraction of the presets and samples
IK does this with Sample Tank
