Lady J, it appears from an outsider, which here I am...if you have so much...a contract...gold reords...fame....fortune....looks why dont you show some class too. So many who do not have as much as you would like to enjoy this contest...so why can't you show them the same respect you would expect and bow out for their sake? You answered ...xanders point you wanted to answer but refused to acknowledge the carnage you leave in your wake that again was apparent in his post...I think that's cruel, very unfair, extremely selfish and quite shameful...please for the sake of those who wont stay if you do...drop out...live up to your original statement...I plead you to, for the sake of the forum.

let's talk about dance music ... I don't care about metronomic crap ... a lot of Stevie Wonder is very danceable ... "Time Will Crawl" by Bowie ... "Jig of Earth" by Kate Bush
thump thump thump thump yawn
210 bpm and I need to leave the room and maybe put on some Isaac Hayes or Mogwai

You already made and posted a song specifically made for the contest. I can't wait to hear what you came up with in that little amount of time.

Right guys. I'm off to bed. It's going to be a very long weekend, Live8, parties, Rock-n-Divas, and I will not be online much so enjoy yourselves. Please feel free to continue to talk about me behind my back in leiu of any real contest related talk or reviews in this thread then complain about how i 'ruined' your precious competition.
I'll shut up now and let the music do the talking.
May the best person win.

Okay people, let's step back for a moment, here: nobody quit just yet.
LadyJ, I am inviting you to apologize for your actions and treatment of your fellow contestants. KVR has a written policy of no egos and no elitism and requires you to treat others with respect. It also has a tacit policy of not allowing gratuitous commercial posts, advertisments, and promotion campaigns.
Your dramas in past month's contest and continued behavior thereafter has violated these guidelines time and again. Furthermore, you have attempted to violate the rules of this contest repeatedly, and endeavored to disrupt the spirit of friendship for your own ego and personal gain.
Now you have pressed people with your inane antics to quit from annoyance and frustration. This is where I have to draw the line.
You are free to feel that it's prejudice that you're "just too good and are a threat". If that soothes your gargantuan ego, so be it, but please do it quietly and not in this thread. I would rather have to ban you from the contest than lose more people who contribute positively to it.
So please, if you want to save one last vestige of dignity, let's hear a sincere apology from you for treating everyone like they're unimportant and not worthy of your respect. A promise that you'll refrain from posting gratuitous images would be appreciated as well, particularly because I have no problem in deleting them in future contest threads.
Then please leave this contest for one month: I think you've already achieved what you're going to for July, even before the calendar has flipped in the States. Hopefully you can enter again in August with a composition written specifically for the contest, and with a positive and respectful attitude in the spirit of what we're trying to build together.

Lady J, Lady J.
Never had so much mixed feelings about a person at KVR. I mean you're an intelligent, educated, attractive, artistically-versatile person who has seen the world. As you have called yourself, a DIVA. People as such simply tend to have big egos (a reason but not an excuse). You'd be interesting to meet in person.
I'm afraid I agree with Vurt about your music. Generally good sounds here and there, and talented in the range of genres you do, but not superstar great or anything.
A bit dissapointed with what you did here. 44 minutes? Did you really think we would by it, or did you not understand the rules? Either way, don't be broken up about it. Like I said - if you became some sort of ninja, you've pretty much covered everything.
Oh yea, and again, Breakbeat Era kicks ass. I've only met 2 other people that are fans of it.
P.S: Could i find any of your 'Huge Hit-Songs' in any store?

[review]
Lady J: the piece was just too fast for my taste ... it might have gotten me up on my feet, but only to get out of the room ... it just didn't have the kind of organic, laid-back groove that I personally would dance to ... a matter of taste, of course ... but even allowing for the speed differential, I don't think this would get or keep people on the dance floor in the local clubs

Markleford, I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but all this would do (for me at least) is defer my decision to leave this forum (and probably this site) by one month. Call me harsh, but I think immediate, and permanent, barring from this site is the only effective remedy for her persistent breaches of site policies and etiquette.Markleford wrote: Then please leave this contest for one month: I think you've already achieved what you're going to for July, even before the calendar has flipped in the States. I'd like to non-literally quote quote the one true thing that ishkur mentioned:kovacs wrote:Electronica...90s...Lady J wrote:I'd like to propose a theme for the next contest (dont worry i wont be entering).....
...
"It was the era that gave rise to Grunge, Gangsta Rap, 'Electronica' and the Spice Girls."
...
"I Love The 90s!"
"Electronica does not exist. Not as a genre or a description. It was coined by the North American music press to refer to the second wave of electronic music's explosion in the late-90's and exists purely as a marketing buzzword, not any actual quantifiable branch of electronic music (the first word, incidently called 'techno', had been driven into the ground beyond all sense of meaning)."

I'm the crazy sort that always hopes that someone can learn. So far she hasn't gotten "the message" that we've been saying. Hope springs eternal.slartibartfast wrote:Markleford, I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but all this would do (for me at least) is defer my decision to leave this forum (and probably this site) by one month.
If she shows that she can't handle maturity and respect in a month, then further action can be taken.
I still believe that my place is to monitor primarily Cafe activities, specifically contests, and mostly as a back-up for pHz when he's busy with Real Life. No moderator likes to have to make these calls to keep the peace.Call me harsh, but I think immediate, and permanent, barring from this site is the only effective remedy for her persistent breaches of site policies and etiquette.
(And I'm now beginning to suspect that pHz is not actually working hard, but is kicking back at the computer and laughing while he watches *me* go through this effort...
However, I did notice that she posted the same damn pictures on her posts to a great deal of other KVR forums over the past month, and that is equally annoying as it's one of the reasons why we have limits on size of signature images.
So while it's not my call to ask for a site ban, she's *not* making a good case for why she should be allowed to stay. I'd be happy if she just stayed away from the Cafe/contests and refrained from posting her advertisments everywhere else.
Here's hoping she can learn that there are consequences for her actions. Not that I'd put money on it.

But while we're talking about banning...
Any of you other geezers miss Reg by this point?
Damn, but the barmy lad now seems downright *manageable* by comparison!

OMG - you people are up to 8 pages already?!
Slow it down a bit! Last month's gossip thread hit like 109 pages or something!!! This is far too much reading for my feeble mind

So many things are 'in the eye of the beholder', Hink. People who think LJ is an attention whore should gain some more experience with typical philosophy / politics / psychology forums. Then they can see what a real 'troll' is like (-nothing- like LJ).Hink wrote: So many who do not have as much as you would like to enjoy this contest...so why can't you show them the same respect you would expect and bow out for their sake? LJ doesn't bother me a bit, and the silly controversies in the gossip thread hardly affect my enjoyment of the contest at all. It's about hearing and making and judging music, not what the artist's 'attitude' is -- as June's voting showed. If people want to whine about someone posting a picture in (an appropriate themed) contest, I don't care -- but . . . don't try and tell LJ, who has not been insulting anyone, that she "leaves carnage" in her wake on *my* behalf -- that's even sillier than making a drama-queen exit from the competitions. (sheesh!)
And by the way -- I won't be surprized at all if LJ's July entry doesn't make the top three, or even top 5 or 10. Not nearly as good as June's. So much for the 'she has an advantage' argument. LJ's replies about it not being equipment and money, etc., are bang on, of course.
Come on, people; chill and grow up. If you don't like someone's attitude -- screw it! Move on. Make some music. It's the whiners and drama queens who are making it unpleasant, not LJ.
