Good Morning KVR!
Track Deadline
We are getting CLOSE to the deadline for track submissions...BUT:
...there are a few mates that have decided (early on in this project) that if the double CD went over limits, we would NOT submit our tracks. This means me as well, since it's way more important for the CD to be successfully produced than to have a xander track on it (sorry to our collab buddies if this be the case). This is the best way to ensure we have enough quality tracks and fewer hassels/worries. If those tracks voluntarily removed aren't enough, we'll ask for more volunteers, and I am sure everyone is cool enough about it to volunteer, so we should NOT be worried about the CD length/too many tracks, etc..
We're going to feel much better knowing that the money is going from a CD we produced to help people in desperate need -- a way better feeling than poncing about with a CD going: "I'm somebody! I'm somebody!!"
Bios
We should have posted some guidelines on this, but basically it's a free-form thing and should only be about three lines. The bios are needed in projects like this to lend more depth to the track than just it's music, and when the listener see such, they get a more personal feeling about the music. Your name ought to be your chosen professional name HOWEVER, I have known famous artists to collab on projects like this using fake names (often funny ones like 'Clit McToris', etc) so they wouldn't violate their Label contracts.

Ironically I was about to post to say that I have decided not to include my track. It is not a reflection of the project or any kind of statement, I can assure you.
And I've PM'd Rob to see if he'd send me a bit of the artwork in progress and I'll update the Flash banner to use it.

It's not about that. I'm not being diplomatic, I'm asking for that track to not be included. So it's not arbitrary. I have some good reasons not to include it. It's not a big deal. And I started working on another track. Let me say though that your artwork has been a super boost and great help. You WILL receive artist credits for that effort on the CD, as will all those who had tracks and volunteered to exclude them and others that have contributed artwork and effort.

Anyway, this is just my go at it, something to give us a starting point. There are things I'd like to see done--as I mentioned earlier--but I'm not sure what Sickle's status is on this project anymore since he's had Hink post an RIP thread for him . . . does that mean his song's out or do we have free reign to use all or part(s) of it?

Ok folks. here's the deal with mastering. It's not just a magical process....it can be subtle or it can be drastic....Now, the best way to go about this, without me totally producing...is for every single person who contributed a track to tell me exactly what sound they are going for...you have to realize that i'm going with i like, simply becuase i have nothing else to go on. Rsmus7 for example, has very specific requests....so i have to be in contact with him to see if we can get it hammered out.
Numba 2.....Now, not to offend ANYONE, but since we're on this "Honesty Policy", , There hasn't been a ton of great mixing and pre-production in this tracks either. Sure, the comnposistion are fantastic, i love all of them, but several, including many of the ones i've mastered so far, could really use better production at the mixing stage...hence, most likely why you're not liking the mastering results...I can only work with what you give me.
Now, i'm not saying this out of anger or anything like that, so don't take offence, i'm just stating some fact here....that the mastering should really just glue everything together, and give it a bit more character, but your mixing is going to make or break the song. For example, the sascha/herodatus song...everything was very centered...almost too much. but the guitars were panned hard left and hard right....this makes the whole mix sound a bit odd. So i did the best i could to expand the stereo field while keeping the frequency balance...but this is no easy task, and doesn't always yield great results.
Sorry if anyone is pissed by all that. that's not the point.
