I am afraid you have to...TBH I don't remember exactly what I did back then when I downloaded KIT 10...I guess I have authorized the OWD player and then always opened the sounds in Kontakt3 (the full version, not the player). I think that Squids is trying to let us bypass the OWD player authorization step...

Post

If I read Squids correctly, he uploaded a different kit, and it will play without the OWD player or the IP player. I can't help you guys on this one. I already have IP and OWD player installed. All I can say is how awesome they sound!

Here is the link for the group buy: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... ode=USDKVR

We are right now at 362. On to 400!

Hi all,

In reference to Rev.Rhythm and "If I read Squids correctly, he uploaded a different kit, and it will play without the OWD player or the IP player. I can't help you guys on this one. I already have IP and OWD player installed. All I can say is how awesome they sound! "

I just downloaded the free kit using the link that says "Download Kit 10 Medium (this kit is over 700 Mb, please click once and be patient the download may take +1 minute to start)"

I have the full registered version of Kontakt 3.5. I do not have any of the special OWD or SR players. When I try to open an instrument or multi from that zipped sound set that I downloaded about 30 minutes ago, I get the 'can not decrypt/can not register' error message. So, at this moment, the sounds accessed via that link still need the dedicated player to authorize them.

I am number 342, so I will just wait until we can start downloading our purchases.

Well, in that case, we await the return of Squids....

Ok, what I understand from Squids' posts is that they are going a release a NKM (a small file that contains a preset for a Kontakt's multi) that will unlock the OWD demo kit.

The moment you got the NKM (AFAIK it's not avaliable yet) all you will have to do is load this in Kontak and point towards the big encrypted file containing the OWD kit (what you have already downloaded) when Kontakt asks you to manually locate the missing samples.

Then, you'll be able to save the multi and use the kit without restrictions.

At least, that's what I understood...

That would make sense.

I posted this on the VDrum forum and just in case there are some newbies here lurking it might be helpful to get some Kontakt Player/Infinite Player basic explanations of how that system works. It might "seem" complicated but don't worry it really isn't. A little of this, a little of that and it all works together to get you the end result which is a powerful system for using our sounds!

------------

Sound companies like Sonic Reality make sounds for various sample formats out there (we support SampleTank, Reason, Halion, Session Drummer 3 and even BFD2 is a sample format that we're supporting soon). For our main flagship high end sound products we're using Kontakt format.

Kontakt is one of the most powerful and popular samplers and is flexible for use with any type of instrument from drums to pianos to you name it. "Native Instruments" aka "NI" makes Kontakt and they license the "player" version of it to third party sound companies like us (also Steven Slate, Mixosaurus - they all use Kontakt as well). If you want to know what the difference is between a "player version" and the Kontakt full version let me now. The short answer to that is the player version is FREE and the full Kontakt is more like $300 and has more features under the hood - but you don't need full Kontakt to use our products, just the free Kontakt Player is fine. If you're a tweaker then you can always get Kontakt full later and it will also still work with this.

So, as I said, wherever you get it (from us or from NI) as long as you are using Kontakt Player 3.5 or higher you're okay. KP4 from NI is fine (just no Mac Power PC support anymore). The Kontakt Player 2 that comes with the free download OWD Kit will not work with these new sounds. No harm with it being on your computer but just to know you WILL need to use KP3.5 or higher for compatibility with the latest sounds we've done with all the new round robin and V-Drum features we've been talking about.

Now, then, what IS the "Infinite Player"? It is the name of Sonic Reality's series of sounds that work with Kontakt. It is, in NI's terms, a "Library" within Kontakt and when installed it shows up on the left side of the Kontakt window like this:

Image

That's where you load the sounds of Drum Masters 2 or other Sonic Reality Infinite Player sound collections (such as this group buy bundle's sounds) from and then the kit you load displays on the right which you can see a bit of above.

The sounds of these packages are "encrypted" which means they have copy protection and will only work once you've "activated" or "authorized" that library. So, to do that we have a serial number for the Infinite Player which you activate through NI's "Service Center" which is a mini app that comes with Kontakt and guides you through the authorization process. ALL software authorization processes are at least a slight pain no matter what company but... it is worth it because once it is done you can start using the product!

So, it is THIS simple. You need:

Kontakt Player 3.5 or higher
Infinite Player installer (which comes with our product when you get it)
The sounds

Those three things get installed separately.

To play Drum Masters 2 and the particular OWD kits of this group buy you can use Infinite Player that only needs to be activated once and then you can add sounds until the end of time.

However, to play OTHER OWD kits (the regular versions like DL edition, Silver, Gold or Platinum Edition) you will need the "Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player" library to be authorized/activated the same way. That library and serial number comes WITH those products or you can buy it a la carte on this page and pick out kits you want for it. http://www.downloadablesoundz.com/o2.php

When you do install that OWD Exp Player it shows up as a library image on the left of your Kontakt Player as well. Here's what that would look like:

Image

But let me make sure this is clear by repeating again. YOU DO NOT NEED OWD EXP PLAYER TO PLAYER THE OWD KITS OF THE GROUP BUY! Sorry that was in caps but I wanted it to stand out. In order to make a nice inexpensive bundle for you with Drum Masters kits AND OWD kits we've done special versions of OWD kits that work with Infinite Player (and also happen to have the latest DM2 features for V-Drums/e-Drums as well and they look a little different so you can distinguish them).

I hope that helps some people that are new to this. If that is still confusing then don't worry. So is making a model airplane. But if you follow step by step on the process of installing everything then before you know it you'll have it up and running on your computer, hooking up your controller (midi kit or other), setting it up just how you like it and enjoying the expanded variety of sounds. At that point you will be loving it!

Yes, that's pretty much how this would work. Normally you wouldn't have to do the extra step of it searching the samples (and also for the interface too) but in order to do this you might... or maybe not because I've already referenced it... I might be able to do this so everything finds everything more easily just for this demo purpose...

I haven't posted the NKM yet. I will this weekend though but before we unleash it on everyone perhaps I can try it out with a few people to see if it loads without having to search (not that it is a big deal to search the samples but the less steps the better). I have plans for the day (in the outside world! woah the SUN! The light is in my eyes... I'm melting!!!!!) but later on I should have some time to experiment with this and we can try it out on a few people to make sure it is going to be smooth and easy. Remember that the demo we have posted was not designed for this but... I think it will work as long as the folder hierarchy is just right.

So that will be fun! Once we confirm it is smooth going we'll offer that NKM to ANYONE who wants to try this out! If you don't own the Infinite Player you can still use it in demo mode in the free Kontakt Player 3.5 or higher so... nothing to lose! A fun kit to play especially now with Round Robin and other added features. It's a full featured kit too so a pretty nice gift!

Yes, if you don't have Infinite Player the sounds will run in demo (30 minutes) mode which is fine for now to try things out and I will do some tutorials on how it works with screen shots and everything - really walk you guys through it. Then answer questions if you have any. Then of course once you get the Infinite Player it will be authorized to work permanently.

Hmmm... we might be able to release the Infinite Player and bonus multitrack kit, EZ Player pro (the bonuses for hitting 300) a little early like beginning of next week. That way you could get started with both this kit not running in demo mode and also the bonus kits... but before I say that we can do that officially let me check with the guys and make sure that's okay to do without it becoming a mess for them. Just so you know, I am always here talking to you all on the forum and doing things for you and then often I get grumbles from Allen and the team because they're the ones who have to manage it on the back end... but they really don't mind and know that we put the customer first. Whatever it takes on our end it takes. We just want to be able to keep track of it and do it in an organized way though is all. A challenge for a custom product that changes over the course of the month but it can be done and we've done a lot of these group buys before so... let's see. The goal is to make you all happy!

Yes, you don't have to. This will bypass it. You'll only need the "NKX" file from that download and put it in the proper folder hierarchy for it all to line up. Don't worry I will figure out the best way to do that so it works with the least amount of hassle. We might even put it up there in the freesoundz as its own thing on Monday (and also label everything better per Zedd's request) and that way it will be easier.

However, for those daring and anxious... we might have some fun with it this weekend.

I'll be back later!

Okay, then... we will await the return of the Squids!

If I understood you correctly, there is a IP installer for the .zip files. It installs everything where it is supposed to go.

Now with the upcoming demo, I don't know how he will handle that.
